I know its a while later but update that I had him put down at the vet back in December, it broke my heart and I wish there was more I could have done, but he wasnt willing to even try to walk and I had to worry about him trying to walk and not being able to get back to his food and water. Hed...
Thank you <3 I've just gotten so attached to him after having him inside and caring for him for weeks now, but I think its for the best. If I keep him around, I don't think he'll walk again, he'll be laying down the rest of his life, and I don't want him to have to live like that.
I don't plan on moving any of my three left around at all, so if its mareks, it won't be spreading anywhere and I'll be extra careful with biosecurity. His next vet appointment is the 28th, and I think im gonna have to say goodbye to him. Am I making the right choice? He's not getting better...
Yeah, and I'm sure the local avian vet would do one for me as well, but the hen died very suddenly and looks outwardly totally normal. There's no signs of any illness, her feather follicles look fine, and the other chickens are okay. So it makes me think its unrelated but of course I can't be...
I just came on to seek advice and vent. I got Hops, my banatm rooster, in October as a rescue. I do not know his history. He's probably young. A bit over a week ago, he started dragging a leg. I took him in to get x-rays, and there was no sign of any injury or cancer. The first couple days I...
A month or so ago, I took a five or six year old silver leghorn hen home who was being picked on and bloodied. She was malnurished and weak. The wounds on her head healed up just fine now and her feathers are growing back in, but she still seems just as weak as she was then. She'll eat and...
She passed away yesterday morning... I don't know what happened. The night before, she was standing and drinking and eating and looked like she was going to be fine. Then the next morning I found her laying on her side, already stiff and the side of her head was in the water a little bit. I was...
I wouldn't give it to a baby, but to an adult rabbit, I like to give them sticks to chew on. I've been told sticks from apple trees taste sweet to them.
A toy that challenges her may be good every once and a while, but I would buy a hay rack to put in her cage so she'll have easy access to it. Hay is very important. My rabbit has just a wooden toy that is hung on the side of his cage for him to chew on. He also has little balls with bells in...
When my rabbit was a baby, I just fed him regular feed and hay. I refused to give him any extra vegetables or treats like carrots until he was four months, I think? I did some research online and that was what I found out. Even if that was longer than I needed to wait, better safe then sorry.
Okay, so it's been quite a while and her leg is no better, but not much worse. So I know it's not something more severe than some sort of leg injury. I just don't know what kind of injury. Any idea of what it could be? Fracture? Muscle issue? Joint issue? I can't feel any significant swelling or...
