Dealing with the same! We live in the Tampa Bay area. This is the best stuff I have found. It makes my whole yard smell so good, too. All natural, not harmful to the chickens. I have to order it online, though, I haven't found any stores that carry it. Healthy Pen spray...
At the moment, our Golden Laced Wyandotte lays hers mid morning, while our Golden Sex Link prefers mid afternoon. They are the only 2 our of our 12 who are laying so far and they just started this past weekend.
Our Golden Laced Wyandotte started laying this past Sunday (19.5 weeks old) and she has been giving us one egg every day and they are small like yours. It’s so cute! I do hope they get bigger LOL
Yeah I’m gonna give it a little
Longer to be sure. They just look so different from each other, that’s also what makes me think one is a boy. We aren’t sure about rehoming yet. It was never our intent to keep a rooster but we are exploring our options LOL
Ok so here are my GLW babies. I have color marked the photos.
Green dot: shorter tail, more reddish brown in head and chest, reddish flat comb.
Blue dot: longer pointy tail, darker head and chest, brown flat comb.
They are both about 5 weeks old. In the side by side pictures you can...
I picked up my babies this morning, ordered through Cackle Hatchery. We live in FL. The lady from there called on Friday and said they would be hatched and shipped on Monday. I got a delivery date for today “before 8 pm” but the post office called at 5 am this morning and said come and get them...
Do you guys use any sort of sealant to weatherproof your wooden coop/run? Ours is almost ready for the chicks to move in next week, I want to do some painting, but I was also wondering if I should get some of that water seal stuff too? Here in FL the summers are SO rainy and want my coop and run...
I didn’t discard after 24 hours. Whoops? I mixed a pack of each into a gallon jug of water (sealed with a cap) and used that to fill their water bowl every day. I didn’t know you were supposed to discard it within 24 hours. It lasted a few days. Well, they seem happy and healthy? LOL But yes...
Or there’s also Save A Chick. They make both an electrolyte and a probiotic to put in water, I used both when I brought mine home for the first gallon of water I used. 1 pack of each per gallon. After that gallon was gone I didn’t use it any more. I think it’s a lot of stress to be shippped and...
Thank you very much for the replies, everyone. We were not planning to butcher any of the flock, they are mainly going to be pets/egg suppliers. I’m a little sad that our mystery chick turned out to be a chicken basically bred to be eaten with a very short lifespan, but such is life LOL I’m not...
I’m having the hardest time trying to identify this chick. People are telling me either Leghorn or Cornish Cross, but I don’t remember either one of those breeds being offered at TSC when we got it. My girls were with me and were so excited to pick out chicks, it’s all a bit of a blur LOL...
We got 8 chicks at TSC a few weeks ago. Out of the two RBs we got, one is definitely looking like a cockerel, even though they were supposed to be pullets. I’m at least sure of their breed though, LOL These ones, I’m not so sure.
First one is much bigger than the others even though they all...
