Do I NEED to hang my turkeys?

Can they "hang" in my fridge if I've let the blood drain prior to putting them in there? Or do they literally need to hang from their feet?

Do I NEED to hang my turkeys?

Hi! I'm planning on dispatching my 2 jakes today and Google is giving such a mix of opinion on whether I need to hang the turkeys afterwards or not. I don't really have a cool/non frozen spot to hang them that's away from any cat access other than my fridge. Do I absolutely need to hang them...

    Injured duck

Hey! I went into the pen this morning and found one of my duck hens sitting in the corner. When I walked closer she got up and hobbled away like one of her legs were injured. Then I noticed a scrape or something on her wing. Which is what's pictured. Theres no way there was any predator in the...

    Losing birds! Any advice?

That makes sense, but from what I've seen these ducks make every effort to avoid the chickens haha. Definitely something ill watch for though. Thank you.

    Losing birds! Any advice?

Yes I do. What do they do to them? I've never really seen the ducks and chickens interact at all.

    Losing birds! Any advice?

Manitoba is in Canada. I have about 30 chickens/rooster and 12 ducks in a large pen (I dont remember the measurements now but when I first got them it worked out that could fit way more birds in the area if I wanted to, as per the space requirements I found on these sites), they also have a...

    Losing birds! Any advice?

Hi! So for the last month or so, I've lost about one chicken every couple weeks. I'll notice one in the pen just being weird. Laying down or on its side. No energy, or wobbly. The next day it's dead. I just found another like this this morning. These are birds that are just getting to that...

    Quail nesting boxes and waterers

Hey everyone! I'm new to quail. I have 50 in an aviary in our barn. They are just coming up on the 5 week mark and I'm busy getting their pen set up for laying. My first question, what do you prefer to use as a nesting spot? I've read they like more "natural nesting boxes" as opposed to...

When can these duckies go out to the barn?

When can these duckies go out to the barn?

Hey all! So my Welsh Harlequins are approaching the 6 week old mark and I'm wondering when they can go out to the barn. I have them in the garage right now with a lamp that they barely ever sit under. They have a lot of feathers, their voices are changing. They just seem to be kind of bullies...

I have a sick little chick!

Yes it is moved over to the side now. It's in the garage and I'm in Manitoba so it's still cold outside. Everyone is seemingly comfortable though. The lamp is on a pulley so it's been moved up to adjust the heat.

This is the only picture I have of the setup, right after I put them all in there.

I have a sick little chick!

Update! I gave him a couple rounds of the sugar water like a PP said and made sure he's close enough to food and the regular water. He wants to eat so that's good. And I just saw him take a few steps before he fell over so that's progress!
