    Abandoned rooster roaming neighborhood ☹️

If you want to catch him, try plain old wild bird food in a container where he hangs out. Mine are crazy for bird seed. They’ll follow me anywhere if the hear me shaking the container they know holds the special treat. Better than mealworms imo.

    Dislocation?

My 12 week old RIR rooster seems to have a dislocated hock? Don’t know how it happened. Just noticed it about a week ago. Thought maybe just weak and beginning to free range would help. So far it hasn’t. Anyone know what I can do to help him? Tried to upload a video but keeps telling me...

    What’s wrong with his legs???

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I have been soaking his legs in Epsom salt then applying a&d ointment and antibiotic cream to his hocks. I tried isolating him but he got so agitated I finally let him out to free range with the others and just separating him from the others at night...

    What’s wrong with his legs???

You know, I bet that’s what happened. I can’t find a thing in the coop that he could have gotten snagged on and I am pretty sure it wasn’t a predator. Could kick myself for not noticing mites before they got so bad. What do you clean the coop with to get rid of mites ?

    What’s wrong with his legs???

He’s the only rooster I have. Don’t think he got caught in a fence but I guess he could have and I just didn’t see him limping until he came out today. It does look like it’s bone but he is walking. Even trying to mount the hens but not being very successful. I think I’ll try just soaking...

    What’s wrong with his legs???

Ok. Put Epsom salt in warm water and soaked him good. He seemed quite happy there. Just before taking him out I poured coconut oil in the soak water and really rubbed his legs with cloth. Then took him out and rubbed again with just the oil. Seems to feel better but the joint still looks...

    What’s wrong with his legs???

Mites? Really? All I have is lavender Edson salt is that ok? Also, I have the solid coconut oil but not the liquid. Will that be ok to use? Ok, calmed down enough to re-read your post and saw Vaseline is ok so expect solid coconut oil is ok too. Here I go.

    What’s wrong with his legs???

I let my chickens out of the coup this morning and my rooster was limping. I checked his legs and can not believe what I am seeing. Does anyone have any idea what this is or what could have caused it? I have no idea what to do for him. Looks like it has scabbed over? Gory pic below. . . .
