Francisco is a gorgeous Easter Egger roo that is around a year old. He is not aggressive at all and is a good protector. We just have too many roosters. If you have green/blue egg layers, you can be assured that their eggs will hatch green/blue egg layers if he is the father. PM if interested...
Yes, the gray one is Stormy and we have heard him crow. The black and copper one is Splash, no crow yet. The black one is Midnight. I’m pretty sure she’s a pullet.
Hi guys! We hatched four Easter Eggers in April and out of the four, only one is obviously a hen. Another does not have the long, swoopy tail of a rooster, but with the colors, I am pretty sure it is. I give you Mosaic. Please tell me whether it’s a rooster or a hen. Thanks in advance :).
We had confirmed Mareks in our flock, and lost 4-5 over about 6 months. This was out of around 40 chickens. I thought it would be so much worse. Most of ours were not vaccinated. A lot of times they get exposed and just don’t get sick. After that, they are immune. We didn’t do anything special...
Smiles Prid Drawing salve is what we used. We soaked the foot in epsom salt, put the Smiles Prid on it and wrapped it up. After two days, it pulled right out. You can get Smiles Prid on amazon.
So, today we soaked Morehead's foot again and were planning to do it again tomorrow and try to remove the plug. After soaking the foot, I could see the plug was sticking out. I just grabbed it and pulled and it came right out. Here's a pic. Did I get everything I was supposed to? We out on...
Update with new pics. We soaked Morehead’s feet in epsom salt today, put on Smiles Prid salve and wrapped him up. Well do this for three days and hopefully the sore will come out. He was such a sweetie while we we were working on him. His other foot does not seem to have a sore, but if you see...
We are going out of town for the day tomorrow, but will start treatment Wednesday. After I soak his feet in Epsom salt, I should be able to get a cleaner pic.
I’m seeing videos using Smiles Prid drawing salve to raise the sore and make it easier to remove. We’ll try that first. Any idea why the other foot is also swollen?
i have a Rhode Island Red rooster that is a little over a year old. The last few nights, I have noticed that he wasn’t roosting in the coop. I didn’t think much of it until he was in the coop yesterday in the middle of the day. This morning, he was in there again. I managed to get him to come...
We got them from someone that day. There’s no rooster in that yard, so nothing she sat on there before was fertilized. Good to know they’ll be okay :-)
Hi! We put 8 incubated bantam eggs under a broody on 6/14. Firgured they’d hatch Tuesday or Wednesday. Checked last night and she had one chick, already fluffy and seemingly healthy. It has been hot here in NC, 90’s every day. Could that cause eggs to hatch early? Or is this one a “preemie”?
These guys or girls were hatched April 30th and should all be Easter Eggers. I don’t see much of a comb on any of them, but the black one’s tail is definitely different. Any help would be appreciated. Hope they’re clear enough; those little boogers can move!
