Good! You can enter them in the “Not ugly chicken contest”. Nobody here said anything about not loving or caring for their ugly chickens. Just that their appearance may be.....a little less than pristine.
Tell me, why would you need to interject points of contention where there need not be any?
Any low cost multimeter will work. Usually a good tool to have around the house anyway for checking electrical outlets, fixtures, etc. Home Depot or Lowe’s would probably be your best bet.
“Honey”
Of all the girls we have, there is one in particular that is just a hot mess!
So I thought maybe we could get some pics of everybody’s ugliest chicken. Post pics by Wednesday, June 6. I’ll create a poll and everyone can vote for the title of ugliest chicken.

I did try to break him in with a couple of the smaller, less aggressive birds the first night. I came out to find he wasn’t in the coop, but roosted outside on top of a less than desirable (for him) perch.
Today when I let him out to mingle, they were the first two to run up and start pecking...
I did forget to mention that he’s only eight weeks old. He was let out for about three minutes. The girls let him know that he’s still low chicken on the totem pole. I think he just needs about a month to get bigger.
I have a new rooster that I recently added to my flock. He’s been in a separate enclosure right next to the girls for five days now. I’ve been thinking of letting him out to range with the girls but I don’t want him just freaking out and running away. Question is, does he already know that his...
You just never know. I’ve had them start right around 20 wks, and some that take up to around 35. She looks healthy and happy so keep it up. The eggs will come.
Stay vigilant. Where there’s one there’s a hundred more. I’ve been able to thwart the diggers with this set up around the enclosure. Keeps from having to dig down so far if the soil is hard and I don’t think it makes sense to them to start digging 2’ away from where they want to get in. Hope it...
It’s a little hard to make out in the pic, but this is what we’ve come up with so far and haven’t had any problems for a while now.
The 2 x 4 wire went up first. The soil is extremely hard so to avoid having to dig 24 inches down into the soil it only extends about 3 inches below. I then cut a...
The grass and clover will be great for their digestive systems. If you're not able to let them out to forage for themselves, grass and clover "treats" will be the highlight of their day. I spoil the heck out of our girls, and have never had any problems. In fact, a little cooked oatmeal (cooled...
Additionally, I would be very cautious of administering additional supplements or vitamins. Your feed and free ranging practices should provide sufficient diet.
