Are you getting bantams or LF? I don’t know much about bantams but if you plan on showing LF, Gold, Silver, & BBR are the only accepted varieties. The Fawn Silver DW and the Blue BR birds are gorgeous project birds though.

I moved him to a pen so he has access to dirt and I upped his protein-- still waiting and hoping for the best.

I currently have him on gamebird feed and all my other birds are just starting their molts while he started and stopped progressing through his a couple months ago; I’m just going to hope for the best come fair season

Sorry, I meant BBR hens— I understand a cock exhibiting it on his breast & tail because that’s where all the black’s located but what about on a hen? BBR hens don’t really exhibit black.
