    Disabled Chickens as Indoor Pets

I took in a disabled chick a couple months ago. He had a slipped tendon that couldn’t be fixed. He can’t walk but he gets around by flinging himself with his good leg and flapping. We’ve tried slings, round donut beds, etc but he hadn’t tolerated anything. He’s the most comfortable making...

    Help Sexing Muscovy

Can Muscovy be sexed by appearance at 7 weeks old? There’s a big size difference with these two. Their feet are the same size and they are feathering in at about the same rate. The larger one is more friendly and loves to come up to me.

Does this behavior mean she’ll start up laying again soon?

Hello! My hen hatched and raised some babies that are about 5 or 6 weeks old now. They’re very independent and she isn’t calling them over much anymore. The hen started doing the egg song a couple days ago randomly. It’s a few times a day. She just stands in the middle of the yard and sings her...

Backyard Mix Cockerels for meat: what to feed?

I want to grow out the male chicks I have to butcher. They’re mixed with marans, australorp, and EE. What diet should I feed them and what age is best to butcher?

Is she a Saxony or Buff?

I’m still trying to figure out if my duck is a buff or Saxony. I’ve had mixed answers. She does quack so I’m certain she’s a girl.

    Fake broody behavior?

My australorp hen has started acting kind of like a broody mama. She’s not setting on eggs, she’s still laying eggs daily and free ranges with the flock. But she puffs up like a broody mom and screeches at the other hens and rooster when they come near. She does the low cluck like she’s talking...

    Bad Rooster Behavior?

Roster behavior... My rooster has suddenly started to be rough with his hens. He’s trying to mate with them more often and they’re obviously fed up. If they don’t submit right away he grabs their necks and rips feathers out while they try to get away. Once they get away he’ll chase them for a...

    Can you ID this duckling?

I bought a trio of ducklings from TSC about 2 weeks ago. No clue what they could be. It was a variety bin and all the ducklings were yellow. They all have the start of feathers coming in. Two have white feathers coming in- I’m sure they’re Pekin. The dark billed baby is the one I’m curious...

    Turkey sexing?

I have two 3.5 month old BB White turkeys. I'm not sure what genders they are.. They both occasionally strut and I recently noticed them trying to mount each other or at least assert dominance. I have people saying they're ladies, but I don't know.
