I don’t think the neighbor’s roo can get to my girls. Their coop/run is pretty secure with hardware cloth. I don’t let them out unless I am with them, and I don’t think the neighbor free ranges his at all. We have 15 acres, and he has several as well. He’s pretty far away. I just hear his roo...
These are all of my “girls”... the four that were walking in my mulch eating the weeds all squat for me. They are the ones that I’m pretty sure are laying.
I have 6 pullets. They are all 6 months old. I don’t have a roo, and my girls are only let out when I’m with them. The neighbor has a roo, but we all have so much acreage that I only hear him. I’ve never seen him.
Thank you. I’m just super confused because people are telling me that my eggs are fertilized. I have a total of 6 chickens, four are laying. The four that are laying all squat for me. My EEs are the only ones that don’t.
I have two EEs that I’m trying to confirm are either pullets or cockerels. They are both 6 months old, and neither one has laid their first egg.
EE #1 (Henrietta) is the orange/brown/light gray one
EE #2 (Agnes) is the dark brown/gray one with the white head/neck
This looks rooster to me. Do you have a clear picture of the saddle feathers? My girls had some barring when their juvenile feathers first came in, but by the time they got their adult feathers, the barring was gone.
Unfortunately, our area’s chicken vet retired so that probably wouldn’t be an option. I will just continue to keep an eye on her and make sure she is still good. Thanks for your help!
I have a 14 week old sapphire gem that has a weird looking wing. I tried checking it, and it seems normal. I have seen her flap some, but she’s not really a flapper either. Her wing has been like this for a couple of weeks now since her last molt. Will it fix itself? Should I be concerned?
