Thank you for your reply. Can you tell early on or do you have to wait until full grown out?

    Red Orpingtons

Hi, Thank you for your reply! So I put a red cock over Buff pullets to create F1 generation but then put all F1 pullets back to the red Cock again to create F2 reds?

    Red Orpingtons

Hi! I had a lovely red Orpington cockerel but no red pullets and want to start a new blood line. Is there another colour I could put him over? I appreciate this might take a long time or is this just a lost cause.......? Cheers 😁

    Lavender genetics

Thanks for your advice. I have a lot of Cockerels from my own stock (blues, blacks splash) but only one lavender pullet after 3 rounds of buying in hatching eggs...... The potentially blue/lav Cockerel can stay if he is split unless it's a big no no for future breeding. Just though he might be...

    Lavender genetics

Thanks for all the replies! I've become a bit lost along the way though. If he's split and produces some lavenders, if I keep just these, would they be OK to start a new lavender pen? I'm just sick of purchasing hatching eggs and constantly being disappointed ☹️

    Lavender genetics

I've got a lavender pullet so if I breed him to that and they come out 100% lavender, does that mean he's split? My understanding is you need two copies of lavender so if he's not split they will all come out blue, is that correct?

That's for your reply. Any reason why you wouldn't use him?

    Lavender genetics

Hi everyone, This years hatching hasn't really gone to plan.... I've spent hundreds of pounds on hatching eggs from top breeders to hopefully improve my current stock and gene pool. Unfortunately either eggs have been blank, not hatched or had deformaties etc Anyway, I was desperately hoping...

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

Yeah, most of those died early on or during hatch. Two 12 day old eggs hatched with assistance

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

Thanks for the link! I'll have a good read later. I don't think old eggs have helped either despite the breeder assuring me they'll be fine....

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

Some of the eggs were about 12 days old.... (collected from a breeder)

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

The only thing I can think of is for the first week my brinsea stopped turning and I didn't notice for a few days. Would this haveade that much difference so early on??

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

Oh and if makes any difference, I'm hatching Orpingtons; maybe they're not as robust as other breeds to hatch??

    Problems hatching / sticky chick

Hi everyone, I need some advice please on hatching as today I've had one of my worst hatches to date. I would like to call myself an experienced hatcher as I've done this for many years but my success rate seems to be dropping, so much so that I'm starting to not look forward to day 21...

Help! I think I've just killed my chicks by accident ☹️

Thanks for your reply. I used Indorex as I had read (and been told) that it's safe to use with chickens. They have automatic doors so they were all out by the time I arrived. The one that survived is acting like nothing had happened. The two dead were just laid out, one on its back in the corner...

It's the flea spray so you can't dilute it

Help! I think I've just killed my chicks by accident ☹️

I feel awful and very upset. Had a minor red mites infestation last week. Not bad but enough for me to seek extra measures. Cleaned out all hen houses and then was advised to use Indorex spray. Used it and kept hens out for several hours and then let them use it again. I have a couple of hen...
