With all this going on it seems I have some time on my hands. First spring clean is on deck.
I have three options to clean with.
Bleach
Disenfectent which says uses eucelyptus and kills bacteria and staph
Vinegar
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
PS we had bumblefoot
Well it happened folks. One year in and whinnie got the bumblefoot in her back toe. I ran to cvs did some research and extracted. Tried my best to comfort her and not inflict pain. It was a pretty bad case an likely will lose her nail. Now that we got through that. I was hoping some of you...
So they finally started. Some have been muddy, and or poopy. We are learning to lay in the nesting boxes. (we are slow learner's)
When we go wash eggs for use or they are really dirty. Do we use just warm water or warm water and Dawn. I have been using Dawn so far and washing by hand. Thoughts?
So I thought I'd have another month to see ife this but mother nature and Chicagoland weather had it's mind made up already.
I currently have two 5 gallon buckets with horizontal nipples as my waterer. I am looking for you expierence in Chicago and northern us on what is best to use.
Fish...
My flock was hatched may 20th. No eggs yet. Anything I should be doing. They have a wonderful coop and nesting boxes. I have everything setup. Anyone have some tips?
Was looking at the chooks poop today and noticed this. Does this indicate worms? It's the white plastic shells almost. They look like shards of little plastic or something. New owner we are about 19 weeks old.
So the below picture shows how the girls have been sleeping. My large blrw seems to be at the head of the pecking order. She leads them all in at night and just some other things I've noticed. However she has been sleeping by herself and not on the perch board. Normal?
Well I did it. It took me 8 weeks. Lots of blood, sweat, and cash. The chooks are now 8 weeks as well and huge!
I planned this build on two different things. My first was coop in the woods. She did a great job on their coop and was my inspiration. I thank them for posting their story. I also...
Got a salmon Faverolles female sent to me. I'm a bit worried however. Do Meyers SF tend to run dark? I'm getting some brown wing feathers in and brown stripe down the back. I can get pictures later. I know it's only been a week , just worried I got a roo.
Is this normal? It was foamy then got sucked up by the pad. No lethargy in any of them. But one is noticably smaller then the others and has had pasty butt three times. I started avc today.
I have the fluffs in the basement utility room. They are all huddled under premier one brooder most of the time. They come out to eat and drink and run back under. Obviously they are cold then right? Should I bring the room temp up? Or is this normal.
Just got some chicks. We have been able to identify everyone except who is who between or EE and BLRW. I have a guess but would like to hear what others say. Thank you
I have set the lighting in my basement utility room to sunrise and sunset. First night with the fluffs. The lights just turned off and they are chirping like nuts. Will this subside? Get used to it type thing? Been quite and happy all day.
First time with chicks. They are arriving the next couple days. I have grogel, save a chick , and nutri drench. Any advise on what to use and what I should skip?
Hi all. T minus 6 days till fluff balls. I have two quick questions. I will be doing the premier one plate. If I place the puppy pen brooder in the garage do I have to worry about car fumes if we also park the car in the garage? Also if I'm using a plate, the garage or the basement do not have...
