Good evening,
I’ve had my horse manure/hay pile since January. I have added in organic matter over time. I also turn it once in a while when I remember. I went to look at it today and it’s smells earthy and is black but I still feel the texture of the hay.
Should I expect the hay to decompose...
Good Afternoon!
I want to hear some natural practices you guys do to prevent possible health issues? Is there anything anyone swears by?
Curious to see what/if anyone has had success.
Thank you!
Good afternoon flock! :frow
Me and my hubby are in the midst of building our coop for the chickens. We originally was going to create a large secure run for the chickens. However I am now leaning towards free ranging. Due to liking the idea better and of course saving money. We will have a...

Continuation of my endless questions.
What are the best items to put into a dust bath for chicks?
I have some wood ash where we burn and lots and lots of dirt on our farm, but no loose sand.
Thank you!
I can’t help it lol. This chick is supposedly about 3 weeks old. This little one looks a bit different, the comb looks a bit more pinkish then the others and short tail feathers. I’m thinking roo? That would be the first three photos.

Good evening Flock!
My hubby and I have a good plan underway for our coop and run. However I’m still trying to figure out what I should cover the run with that is a bit more cost effective. The run will be made out of t-posts and hardware cloth 1/2 inch. I really don’t want to cover the entire...
I have had my chicks for a week, they are about 2 weeks old. If I want to get some ducklings should I keep them apart to make sure ducklings are healthy? How long should I keep them apart?
Tonight the Chicks went outside for the first real time!
From my inexperienced eye it looked like they enjoyed it and did what chickens are suppose to do!
I’m really enjoying my new role as chick mom, even thou my horses and dog get jealous :plbb
Good Afternoon Flock!

Good morning flock,
I need to get a coop plan and start construction ASAP. My chicks are about 2 weeks old and I know they grow fast.
I have been going back and forth between buying a pre fab coop, buying custom coop, or building our own coop.
With buying a pre fab coop I like the idea of the...
