Anyone recommend any kind of preventative treatment actions I can take before I move them out? I did clean out the existing coop really well and plan to do a apple cider vinegar wipe down when Mother Nature allows and provides a decent day lol. Treatment against fleas, ticks, mites etc. Just...
Just curious if anyone else is raising all three together. Would like to see some of your run and coop set ups if you do. And you you house them at night. Any particular issues you may have as well.
Thanks in advance!

So our flock is about 5 weeks old. And next week or so I will be moving them from the brooder to the coop. But now that I am a bit more educated on the chicken life I think I am gonna add more to my flock. Once these go out I’m probably gonna get at least 4 more. I would like to stay more of a...
Missing from the brooder I thought “well how the hell did he get out?” After looking through the garage and calling out to him “like some idiot thinking he would answer” or at least come out of where ever he was. I looked the brooder over again and was certain he didn’t get out. Then I thought...
So far these have been hands down the best thing I’ve done for them/me. They consistently have clean water, they reach up to drink and I believe helps them. And the ducks can’t splash it every where! I just keep adjusting the height as they grow! I will definitely be setting up a gravity fed...
Here are some pics just wanting to clarify what breeds I do have. I know the wife said 2 was Ameracuna but honestly not sure what two. Are the black ones perhaps Wyandotte’s?
Like I say they are about 4 weeks old and I know nothing! Or have a clue what I’m doing lol
Being new to the “chic life” I have been taking in a lot of info lately. Very appreciative of everyone’s input BTW. But you do hear people say nope I do it this way others that way and so on. So it got me thinking well I’ll just ask in general what y’all would have done differently or changed to...
Not really looking to have one to fertilize the eggs though. But curious to your thoughts on if a Roo would be helpful to my flock. Meaning help in protection in general and just overall quality? Right now I have 6 hens 2 turkey and two ducks that are all about a month or so old.
Thanks in...
Wife: Hey honey let’s get a couple of cute ducks to!
Me: Ok love that should be fine they are all the same age and size we can raise them all together cool!
Awe cut little bitty duckies......March 28th
Then all of a sudden! No one worned me mind you!
Now
BOOOM! MEGLADUCKS...
Here is what I had.
So I wanted a feeder that was easier to clean and perhaps even mobile but semi protected from the elements as well. And right now with them being young this is what I am using.
So to cut the holes I used a razor knife and heat gun. Makes them first of course. Tip: put...
My flock of 6 chicks 2 Turks and 2 ducks are all about a month old. All starting to get their feathers and all seemingly very healthy. (I’m no Vet but I did stay at a Holiday inn). We are getting a cold snap here in Mid Michigan so I do still have the lamp on them. How my set up is it gets about...
Went out to check on the lil ones and one of my ducks was on its back and seemed to be struggling to get back over. They are about a month old and fairly big at this point. I simply reached in and helped turn her over and she chirped a bit but seem to be fine after that. Is this common...
Just showing off the ladies! They where days to a week old when I got them. Tomorrow will be 3 full weeks I have had them.
6 chicks (names Pending)
Thanksgivn & Xmas the Turks
And Burt & Ernie the ducks.
we have all the leaves a small city would ever want or need. I am contemplating using the leaves for my run to help with mud and possibly in my coop. Mulched up of course. Has anyone else tried this? If so any luck? It seems to me nice dry mulched leafs should fair well in both areas?
