I recently got 2 dominique hens and she is trying to kill my silkie rooster! Has anyone heard of this and what can I do? She has ripped his comb open twice.
Thank y'all!! I would love to let mine free range all day but my dogs would have them all down in one day! I can't believe how much they have came out of their shell since we sold our rooster! They eat out of my hand and let me hold them but before the roosters wouldn't even let me in the run!
Well my babies are 9 months old but today was their first adventure in the yard. They are normally in their run because of my dogs but I wanted to see how they would like to and they LOVED it!!! Here are a few pictures them exploring!
The silkies wondering why the reds were out! They didn't...
Yep, my husband was out of town for the first night so I put them in. When I talked to him the next night, he asked me how many I had to put to "bed" and all of them had gone in. I believe his exact words were "I'm so proud of them!" hahahahaha
I love your coop!!!
I guess I got lucky. My silkies learned to use their ramp the second night in their new coop (and its pretty steep) and all my silkies but two (8 out of 10) roost!! What can I say their geniuses!!!
Well my hubby got the call this morning about 8:30 that the babies were waiting at the post office. Here is list:
3 Silver Sebrights:
3 Silver Laced Wyndottes:
1 Buff Laced Polish:
2 Buff Silkies & 1 Red Silkie:
and 8 "packing peanuts" (but I think we got lucky and this baby is a...
As stated before that is no smell and I had him very close to me! There have been tons of misleading info that is why I figured I would come straight to the source. I read that bread soaked in olive oil will help libricate the crop. When should I add food/yogart?
Well a couple days ago I posted that my silkie was shaking his head almost like a convulsion. I checked his crop then and it seemed normal. Well my hubby came in today and said that he saw him throw up "clear liquid" well my first thought was "impacted crop". Sure enough I go out and his crop...
Thanks for everyone's response. Just kinda bummed today. I feel like I can't get this chicken thing right. I stress more about them than my dogs. I really have no clue what this could be. His eyes and nose are clear (is that a good sign)? Any other suggestions?
Well it has been going on for about 2 days it is more like a head bob to the side. He has been eating, drinking, and pooping normal. Does any know if it may be a vitamin deficiency?
