    Feeds affecting laying?

My girls are also not laying at all. Normally, I would see an increase in production. I have noticed that the feed (Purina) does not smell the same as it used to. There are many people on other social media platforms discussing this. My vote is that they are cheaping out the feed and adding too...

    Strange behavior

Thanks. I will pick up some wormer today. I gave her some yogurt and grapes yesterday. Today she seems to be feeling better.

    Strange behavior

She is not egg bound. Is it ok to worm her even though she is feeling punky?

    Strange behavior

I have a 3yo EE. She is keeping to herself, not even hanging with her best buddy. She has her neck scrunched down into her "shoulders" and walks like she is stiff legged. She is still wandering/free ranging all over my large yard. She will run if I try to catch her. (Typical behavior) I...

If you are missing a hen, and you live between Union and Sam's club on Woodman road, I have your chicken. She lead me on a merry chase. She played "chicken" a few times into oncoming traffic, but she is now safe. I would venture to guess that she flew over your backyard wall onto Woodman Road...

My girls spilled their water and it froze, so where ever the water went, now the tiles are coming up. I am heading to Habitat Re-store to get a single piece of flooring to put down. Can I just say "gurrr".

The ladies are doing well. I just built a 7' run off of my tiny (incognito) coop. :D Starting to see some combs getting red. Hopefully we can have more than one fresh egg a day! Went dumpster diving for the materials and a friend gave me a roll of wire so the run was FREE! I love that word.

Good Morning Peeps! School has started so my computer time is limited. The chickens have started terrorizing the flowers so time to get a run built. We got our first egg 2 weeks ago and it was pretty exciting. It doesn't matter how many times I have raised chickens, that first egg always...

Gardening is making me weep. I have minature plants this year. They just are not growing. They have blooms but are only 6 inches tall. I think it has been too cool here at night. I need a greenhouse. Maybe I had best wait to spring that on DH until next spring. Chickens this year have been...

I have heard it both ways. My parents say it the first way, but I have heard 'natives' say it the second. My parents found the climate very temperate. If they had snow, it melted almost the same day. They moved back to Iowa to be closer to grandkids. (Of course within 3 years of them moving...

Welcome to chickenhood! All my Orps have always been the bossy, roost ruling types. My flock is a mix of breeds, as I want to own one of each it seems. I am not sure where you can get chicks this time of year. Pick the birds you want and enjoy.
