To answer the previous question, you need the turner with the quail rails, and they don't dump them out :)
It's a lot of eggs to turn by hand if you don't buy that!
My question: Is there a quail call that works for coturnix? When they're little we move them and spread them around by...
We've installed motion detector lights last night, and my husband chased what he thought was a fox (didn't actually see it, just shadows and smudged footprints, and heard screeching from the woods--it makes a horrible screaming noise--I've listened to quite a few wildlife sounds on youtube...
We've lost a bunch of dummy eggs at a time (6 in one night and 3 in another) and real eggs and adult chickens too, so not the same problem as you. We suspect foxes with babies--we've seen what look like fox tracks and heard something making a freaky noise at night (and I've listened to more...
I just realized I somehow posted this twice--sorry! I thought no one had replied and here I see they replied on one thread.
Anyway, we had fixed the coop but unfortunately the invitation I guess was issued.
"It" dug into the coop last night and took the rest of the ceramic eggs and any...
My chickens free range in daytime and are penned at night.
Here the last 2 weeks we've had goats in the pen around their coop who were breaking into the coop--so the coop was getting torn up. I have done some repairs, doing more every day.
We've had foxes, and they would take 1 at a time, or...
Just have to say those are gorgeous birds.
And to clarify I've got no beef with hunting, but canned hunts, whether quail or buffalo seem most unfair to me.
Unfortunately, some of us love or birds and other animals but can't afford anything. It'd be nice to be able to have them pay for...
So like the cousin, did he buy 300 fancy ones that cost like $50 each and up, or just "boring" ones for a few $ each?
How big is the market for ornamental pheasants? (and are those sales done online or ? where do buyers and sellers find each other?)
I have to admit to an ulterior motive...
So who buys, for example, fancy quail or fancy pheasants?
Do hunters with too much spare $ want those for pretty trophies or is there another market I'm missing?
Thanks!
They could.
Aine is an awful lot for one mama (so is 8). Is she stressed by you looking at them? Or she could just push it out somewhere else in the cage?
Unless you have another doe with babies of similar age, it's awful hard to hand-raise baby bunnies, so hopefully she won't do it again.
I'm thinking ILT but? 3/30 chickens sick last night, now 4 more sick this morning. Audibly congested breathing, walking/talking but some depressed, no foul smell, no swollen faces, snot is clear to amber (like serum), no visible mouth/throat lesions. Eating/drinking some, otherwise okay...
Thanks for the replies so far!
The deer netting another post said black rat snakes could get loose from it--anyone know? That would certainly be the easiest thing if it would work! Also will goats or big chickens get stuck in it or anything (there are goats in that pen around the chicken...
Would putting a chicken-friendly pig in a little pen around the chicken pens deter snakes?
I've lost 6 babies and killed (no flames--but they were in my chicken pen killing/eating my babies--the first one had my little red star baby hen in his coils trying to kill her when I whacked him with...
We've had chickens for a couple of years but new to this forum. We have big ones (I don't know what they are, they came with the house, although I have some guesses--6 different ones though, 1 game type, 2 meat type, and 3 egg type, from their body shapes) and nine 7WO babies (Cuckoo Murans and...
