I have 7 chickens, 4 are about 14 months old and the others are about 10 months old. The henhouse is 4x4 with 4 egg boxes. There is 1 part of the run that is 8x8 and covered and the other part of the run is about 12x25.
I'll try to get some pictures of the run ASAP.
Does anybody know why my hens are being so loud in the morning? They do sound that goes like this (excuse my mispronunciation): ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-BAW_ BAWK It's SO obnoxiously loud and can be heard from inside the house and I'm worried that it's bothering my neighbors (I live in the suburbs)...
Here's a little update after a few days. Each night, I have to go outside and place them on the perch inside. They all sleep on a little perch I have in their run, which isn't great because the run isn't covered so they are vulnerable. They haven't laid yet. They still get bullied a bit but I...
I didn't introduce them over time, unfortunately. I'm an amateur chicken owner and don't have the equipment to create another temporary pen. Plus, I usually just add my new chickens without the see but no touch method. I'll put more places to hide and more feeders and waterers so that they don't...
The coop is about 8x8 ft and the run is around 25x15 feet. I have a few obstacles but no separate feeders. I'll try to put water and feed in some spare feeders and waterers for the time being. Thank you for the help! I'll keep posting with updates.
I just got 3 6 month-old chickens and added them to my almost year-old flock of 4. They are all the same breed (Red Sex Link). It's only been a few hours but they've been fighting. All of the old chickens chase around and peck the new ones. I try to scatter feed around the run so that they still...
The roost is about 1.6 feet off the ground. 1ft from the closest wall, 3 ft from the far wall, 4 feet across, and I cleaned the coop about a week ago. (The coop is all new) The birds were born in April 2020 and she acts perfectly normal during the day.

Hey there, I have a pretty self-explanatory dilemma: My chicken, who seems perfectly healthy, eats/drinks, and I've never seen bullied, has stopped going on the perch to sleep at night. I have 4 hens and just made them a new coop. They all slept on the perch the first few days and all seemed...
If she were a rooster, she would have a talon behind her feet and very large tailfeathers/waddle. Plus she would probably be mounting the hens and singing during the day. Never had a rooster though, but I guess that's what would happen...
Thanks for the support btw!
Ok, so I was actually just wondering what the heck that bulge was, thanks for explaining that. So, I know that she does have that bulge at least part of the day. I'm gonna check tomorrow morning if it is smaller. What does it mean if it is still large before she eats in the morning? Thanks...
First, her crop is her fluffy butt correct? And when checking it what am I looking for exactly? She has been eating regularly I think, but I will pay more attention to that. I'll also examine her weight compared to the others. And could you be more specific as to what that parasite would look...
The ones above and below are her.
The one below is of the other 3 chickens I got with her. (Some of their feathers are black because it has been raining for days.)
I live in New Jersey so I'm a bit farther south but I usually have a deicer in their water, put a layer of thick plastic sheeting around part of their run, and ensure that their house is insulated but still has proper airflow to prevent still frozen air. Oh yeah, make sure that their perch is...
