    Whole flock gone

It hurts so badly to loose all at once. Happened to me once after a raccoon invasion. You mention livestock sweet feed. That has copper in it, and copper is toxic to birds. Perhaps in their eagerness to eat such a treat, they ate enough to kill themselves.

Bought 2 straight run silkies and they’re both Roos!

Anyone interested in trading a silkie hen for a 3 month old silkie roo? I have one with dark red comb & wattle, and the other has a darker comb & wattle with blue ears. I was really hoping for a boy & girl but, oh well. Would like to trade or outright sell one of them, your choice which. I’m in...

8 week old ICELANDIC Cockerels - Connecticut

I don't believe Icelandics can be sexed by color, but in the case of my hatching, every single brown chick appears to be female and every single multi-colored (white/black/brown) chick has crowed. I'm afraid I can't spare any females, but if you'd be willing to take some males, I'd be grateful...

8 week old ICELANDIC Cockerels - Connecticut

I'm afraid I have 6 too many roos. Thanks for the offer, but trading wouldn't help at all! Plus I'm planning on keeping the breed pure & don't want anything other than Icelandic roos.

    OOOH POOOOP! - Icelandics

I've been so busy this week HATCHING MY ICELANDICS that I haven't been online and didn't see this contest! I posted 5/24 about my brother bringing me some eggs (2nd and 3rd generation from Lyle Behl's original 11) looking for anyone who may be able to sell me some or do a swap to expand my...

Introduction & Preserving Icelandic Chicken genetics...

Hi, my name is Cindy and I live in Northwestern CT. We've been raising chickens for about 8 years now and we still have one of the original girls! My brother was among the shepherds that went to Iceland in 2003 along with Lyle Behl when he brought the Icelandic chicken eggs to the US to...
