Our English white cortinex are laying... And it's winter..... English winter... Is that normal?

So it seems its moulting time for bobwhites and calis. Seems to have brought grumpy behaviour too? That normal? They aren't massively fighting, just grumpy pecks to all the others!

Our colonies right now. We have 4 little calis and a hybrid to add to the cali/bobwhite colony. But then they will be set. The baby English whites are going in the the jumbos.. They doing the look but not touch bit atm. But looking amazing and we got sooo many eggs this summer!! Can't wait till...

So if some of you remember, we posted these cortinex eggs... English whites. I said the orange circled one was different. So we had a great hatch of 5....the weird egg hatched and it was this little beauty!!! The others are yellow, with a touch of brown here and there.. Now turning white. So...

We thought our English white and cali girls were good layers.....till we got the jumbo cortinex!!!! Wow!!!! Some lay 2 a day!! And amazing sized eggs too!! The very first we broke open was a double yolker!!

Larry/luna is doing really well! Fingers crossed... 2 weeks old and looking good!!!

So after finding out our frodos... A mix between a frog (because of their noise) and a dodo (cause of how dopey they are!) don't fly... We took most of the branches out.. Left some for structure. The last pic is where we are gonna do another run for them to give them more space. Xx

We have done a lovely coop for our cortinex... Put logs in for them to fly around on.. Like the calis... But they aren't using them? Do they not like to go high?

Our quails all grown up and absolutely gorgeous!!! We had 2 bobwhites, but yesterday 1 escaped and hasn't come home yet. Worried he has been eaten though. However we have these beauts still and now we have rehomed the cockerels we have ordered more eggs to expaned our quails. Their beautiful...

So, yesterday we had to say goodbye to our cockerels. We weren't allowed to keep them. Very sad day. But have gone to an amazing g rescue centre that will take care of them!! 😢😢

Let the boys have abit of free run today. They are getting used to it now. Quails looking on! Yesterday we let them all out to free range and never ever again! The quails were a nightmare to get back in! Nearly lost 3 in neighbours gardens!!! 😵😵😵😵😵
