    Prolapsed vent and gleet

Hey fellow chicken people! Im having a similar problem with my silkie hen. I looked at her this AM and it looked like she had poop stuck to her bottom and feathers. She also looked a bit depressed. I picked her up and inspected her and the best description I can give is that it looks like she...

    New flock/Existing Flock

They do sleep in the coop, but thre newbies are in the coop in a kennel... and I do have more than perch. Do you think it's ok to stay letting them just be in thre coop and remove the kennel... it's crowded in there with kennel inside lol

    New flock/Existing Flock

They had spent 2 weeks in their own enclosure inside the run so that everyone could get to know each other, now they have been out in the run for the past week and a half getting to know the routine.

    New flock/Existing Flock

Not sure if im posting this in the correct place but I'm wondering when I can or should start letting the new chickens sleep in the coop with thre current chickens? Everyone sleeps in there now but the newbies are in a kennel. They've been doing this for a week or so now.

How long to expect aggressive behavior towards new chickens?

I have a similar issue... in trying to integrate 6 new, 2 month old chickens. They are"in the yard" with the rest of the flock which is made up of 5 ducks ( 2 drakes and 3 hens) and 7 chickens that include 2 roosters ( 1 frizzle and 1 1 Americana) and 5 hens. They are in they're own enclosure...

Hen sitting on nest only at night

I have kind of the opposite concern. My hen sits in eggs during the day but then roosts at night. If I hoo in the coop in the AM and take the eggs, she stands at the door looking at me like " excuse me! What do you think you're doing?" HAHA So I put the eggs back and leave em alone. Maybe one...

    Duck behavior

Ever since my duck lost her buddy, (not mate just another duckling that was raised with her) she has been coming up to the patio and looking for her and then she does this thing where she gets right in front of me and seems to flatten out and lets me pick her up. Could it be that she wants to...

    Sick Silkie

Unfortunately, no....I lost her...I don't know if I didn't get to it soon enough or if she may have been ill when I acquired her. I really only had her a few days before she started acting sick. Thank you for asking. And thank you everyone who gave advice, now I'll know better if it happens...

    Sick Silkie

I have a 3 month old silkie hen who is not feeling well. I've isolated her the past couple days. She's weak, will occasionally stand, does this weird head movement thing, (kind of like she's reading? ) .. I've given her antibiotics, and water with a syringe. What can I push thru a syringe to...

Comment by 'Mrsjdavis' in article 'Top 10 Chicken Predators'

This article was extremely helpful! I've lost 3 birds ( 1 chicken, 2 ducks) in the past month and it's frustrating! My son spotted a coyote yesterday AM right after we noticed a missing duck. Don't know if it was the culprit, coming back for seconds, or an accomplice, but it had a lot of...

    Duck dilemma

Re-homed him... he seems ok... he lives with other ducks and geese that won't let him act like a jerk 😊....NOW I'm apparently dealing with some kind of predator. I've lost 2 birds in thr span of a week. Just POOF gone! Hubs said he thought he saw a bobcat near our patio a couple weeks ago. So...

    Duck dilemma

I started with 1 drake, 1 hen. My drake has become so aggressive! He chases my rooster, my hubs, my son, sometimes me! Im trying to introduce 4 new younglings (about 2 months) and he isn't having them in the yard. One of the 'lings is his offspring that he tried to kill when she hatched. I...
