Yellow/white blisters appearing on chicken waddles

@Peaches Lee @Eggcessive @dawg53 Someone in a FB group mentioned that it looked a lot like stage 1 frostbite and I treated it as such, the blisters went down almost overnight once we did some more weatherproofing on their temporary coop. We didn’t realize we were getting frost temps because we...

Yellow/white blisters appearing on chicken waddles

She is a Jersey giant! She was sold to us as an Easter Egger but I found out after telling my mom that she looked like a JG that the bins were mixed lol

Yellow/white blisters appearing on chicken waddles

This morning when I let the ladies out, I noticed at least two of them had soft yellow blisters on their waddles. They’re soft and not scabby, and are much worse on the inward facing sides. Are we finally getting hit by fowlpox or is this something else? They were just moved to their temporary...

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

I’m sorry to say she didn’t make it. I took her to an avian vet who diagnosed her with necrotizing fasciitis and we decided to put her down that day due to the spread of the infection. Even with an amputation that we couldn’t afford her chances were slim to none 😞

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

I’ve been doing exactly that but more changes and probably not enough airing out. I’ve been keeping her separate from the other chicks but close to them for company and regularly applying neosporin. I started airing it out more today when I reconfirmed her bones were all in the right place so...

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

I wasn’t thinking too much it was blood poisoning because of the lack of other symptoms, but it receded so quickly with no discoloration (and was present under the road rash on her leg right where skin changes to scales) that I wasn’t sure. It’s hard to tell from the first photo but her whole...

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

@micstrachan @MysteryChicken UPDATE I’ve been taking care of her for several days and she’s been doing a lot better on the penicillin (the blue under her skin has completely receded, unknown if due to circulation or blood poisoning) however, physical examination of the wing seems to show that...

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

She’s doing okay today, considering she managed to escape her wrap multiple times (I’m still figuring out how to best secure it, especially on a small wiggly bird). She’s definitely a little low on energy which I’m not surprised about, but is continually living up to her nickname of “Butt” which...

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

We decided to hold off on the amputation and see how the chick is doing in a few days. I’ll do my best to update, one way or another

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

I don’t know if I can afford a vet amputation, is there anything I can do myself? I’d rather surrender than lose her but I don’t really want either I believe her humerus snapped

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

It’s hard to tell but I think there was a snap along the length of the bone

    Wyandotte chick with snapped wing

I have a 7/8wo Wyandotte chick with an open wound and bone sticking out. The wing is blue past the break. Is there any way to save them?

Chicken’s feathers growing too close together? Really weird

@Overo Mare @Wyorp Rock @HappyClucker7 Here she is! I still can’t see or feel down into the very middle but I should have estimated *between* half a centimeter and a centimeter.

Chicken’s feathers growing too close together? Really weird

I can try to get a better look tomorrow and try to take a video to show you, sweet baby Merle is asleep right now. She’s been totally healthy otherwise, even when a couple of her sisters got a lil stomach thing.

Chicken’s feathers growing too close together? Really weird

It seems to be a little itchy (she lets me hold her wings and scratch down between the feathers without trying to squeak out and hop up onto my shoulders) but overall she seems relatively unencumbered. It’s even kind of cute, like a little fan on her back as for the feathers, I gently tested...
