Is ivermectin or Vaseline preferred over the miconozole for favus?
She doesn’t NEED to be locked out but she has been broody for a very long time (& won’t be hatching, I have no roosters), and I just want her to be healthy, eating & dust bathing etc. Ive been taking her out to eat & drink &...
Thank u for the reply! Favus was my first guess after some inital research, but it sounds like I need to try treating it daily for a while to know.
If it’s scaley face mites is it possible that she wouldn’t have it on her legs?
She certainly isn’t dust bathing as much as she needs to. I’ve been...
One of my silkies, Cheetoh, who is a little over a year old, has whitish yellow crust on her face that has not gone away for a few weeks. It’s around her eyes, beak, and ears. I noticed one of the other chickens had a similar thing a couple weeks ago but hers it gone.
Cheetoh is currently very...
I looked more into worms & im thinking this could maybe be a worm issue. Is there any risk in giving a weak, sick chicken de-wormer? I don’t want to unintentionally make her worse
thanks for your reply. she did drink quite a bit yesterday and now is not moving but I will make sure she gets more hydration
Thank you! I've uploaded some photos.
She is drinking quite a bit, but I will add some sugar to her water. Yesterday she was eating but today has not been, I will have...
thank you for your input! I'll post photos. My understanding of wry neck is that it's more of a symptom than an actual cause of illness, is that right?
One of Silkie hens (2 years old) is very ill & I cannot figure out what's causing it or how to help her. She is VERY special to us & I'm doing whatever I can to save her.
I've noticed the past couple weeks she had not gone up the ramp to the coop on her own. And it has become very clear she's...
2 of our 3 silkies bantams turned out to be roosters :( In search of a new home for these sweet chickens.
Tampa and China were my first chicks and I’m so sad to have to let them go but unfortunately we are too close to neighbors to have a rooster.
6 months old. Healthy & don’t have bugs. One...
I have also have a Cozy Coop & am in California. Unfortunately It doesn’t throw the heat very far so they really have to be close to it to get the benefit but it I like that they have the option at least.
Thanks for your reply! I didn't realize they have a juvenile molt. Would they be molting on the feet like this? I was concerned that maybe that have Scaly leg mites because their feet look dry & flakey, but again I don't know what's normal.
Thanks for your reply! Scaly leg mites did come up in my google searches. Is there any way for me to tell by examining them if that's what it is? Would it be affecting the feathers & skin on their body too?
Hello fellow chicken lovers. Introducing myself to BYC and looking for some guidance. As of this past summer, I am a new chicken mama to 3 silkies (hopefully hens, but still not sure!). I am obsessed with them and I have read so many helpful threads on this site, thanks for sharing your...
