    Muscovy duck losing weight

My 2.5 year old darling Muscovy, Cheech, has me a little concerned. She’s been molting for a couple of months, which obviously takes a lot of energy, but now that winter is settling in, she’s much more fatigued than normal and she’s lost a lot of weight - like 2-3 pounds. Her caruncle looks...

Prolapsed / gangrenous penis in drake

My poor Drake Bitsy has just been plagued with penis problems. My theory is that is primarily due to overexertion and, for whatever reason, he doesn't care to swim, so I don't think he's ever really adequately cleaning himself. Right now, there's about an inch or so of his penis that is...

    Muscovy panting at night

Why is my 1yo Muscovy panting so heavily at night? She is fine during the day, but I worry about her at night. Is this part of the other egg laying process? My other ducks don't do this.

Does this look like the start of bumblefoot?

One of my little girls is limping and avoiding standing on her left foot. The bottom looks a bit swollen but no open sores or scabs. I checked all my other birds and they look fine, as does her other foot. Thoughts? What could I do at this early stage (if it is bumblefoot) or if it's something...

    Drake Penis Turning Yellow

I've had some issues with my Ancona drake, Bitsy, for the last week. Last Saturday I noticed he was hanging his penis out and doing this pulsing thing with his tail area like he was trying to poop. It was also very warm to the touch and swollen. I took him to the vet and got an anti-inflammatory...

    Drake with an injured...penis?

My Drake has been a little off for the last few days. He's drinking a lot of water but I'm not sure if he's eating. I haven't seen any poops other than really liquidy ones. He seems more quiet and less energetic in general. He's really sensitive around his genitalia. I've also seen it hanging...

    My spoiled Muscovy gal

I just wanted to share with y'all the sounds of my extremely spoiled Muscovy, Cheech (link below). We found her alone in a parking lot when she was a day old (we think) and then raised her in our apartment for the first year of her life, so she's pretty attached. Now that she lives outside with...

    Weird breathing?

My little girl Fran is an almost 9 month old khaki Campbell. I've noticed her doing this tail up-and-down thing at night when I spy on them in th coop (see video, she's in the lower left corner). Tonight she looks like she's breathing heavily as well. I listened to her chest just a day or two...

Why is my Muscovy hen being so aggressive??

My dear Muscovy, Cheech, has developed some concerning behavior in the past 24 hours. She's been more vocal and a bit needier of my attention than usual, and now she's attacking my 3 youngest. They were introduced and started sharing and run and coop in August. Since then, she's basically...

    Muscovy in the rain

Does anyone have a muscovy as silly as mine? She's in the back right. Check out the way she stands in the rain. I don't think she dislikes it because she never goes in or under the coop for shelter. She'll just stand in it looking like a penguin or a vampire. It's so silly. Is this normal lol?

    Sick Duckie

I have an almost 4-month-old Khaki Campbell who has had a patch of feathers on her shoulder that have been slow growing. I checked them out today and they look infected. I haven't seen the other ducks pecking her but perhaps they are. But it looks like these feathers just aren't growing in...

    My ducks are ALWAYS molting!

I recently moved my apartment ducks outdoors after living the first 13 months of their lives indoors. They seem to be CONSTANTLY molting. My Ancona drake has basically been molting his chest and back feathers since January (he's only shed and regrown adult wing and tail feathers once). My...

    Drake... Burping? Hiccuping?

Anyone know what my Drake is doing in the attached video? He seems to be swelling his crop and then forcing a push out. He's doing this every couple of minutes. I'm watching him on the live camera in the coop and wondering if I need to go save him somehow...

    Second summer molt?

Hi there! My precious 14 month old Muscovy hen started what I thought was a standard summer molt in the beginning of June. She shed all of her chest feathers over about a week, then began losing back and tail feathers. She's now molting her first and second row of wing feathers. A couple of days...

My Drake goes loony around the water bowl

It doesn't happen every day, but maybe once a week. My Drake goes flappy, gets the zoomies, and tries to stick his breast into the water bowl. There's a lot of beak opening and running in circles. He has two water sources out of the coop that he can fit his whole body in and get way more zoomie...

Drake Watery Poop and Dangling Penis

Well, the title pretty much says it all. My one year old Ancona drake has been for the last day or two pooping primarily water poops with very little substance to them. Additionally, his penis will dangle out occasionally during the day for seemingly no reason. His diet hasn't changed and there...

    Stressed and squealing duck

My almost-one-year-old Muscovy has been acting really weird this week. She lives inside and has been running around the house like she is being chased and squealing like a pig like she's terrified. It's really stressing me out. She is laying normally and acting normal otherwise. Any ideas?

Why is my drake Obsessed with eggs?

My Ancona drake is simply obsessed with my Muscovy's eggs. Every time she lays and he's able to get his hands on it, he freaks out. It's like he's trying to protect it. Is this normal? Who cares, it's adorable, but I'm just curious. It's almost like he wants to nest with it? Link:

    Duck Hiccups!

My almost 10 month old Ancona duck seems to have the hiccups...or something this morning (link below). It just started within the last hour. There's no noise associated, just the odd full body motion. He seems normal otherwise, quacking and curious, and he gets down water fine. He doesn't seem...
