Jenny, a Goanna is a large Monitor Lizard and can grow to 6ft. in length, they are carrion eaters and love eggs too. The one we see each Summer is about 4ft.

Thank you everyone, I have updated and added more pictures. Scooter, those vines were Tacoma, it grows anywhere and has a very pretty pink flower but as you can see it is destructive when planted over buildings. There was also Honeysuckle vines and Wisteria as well...
