    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

She’s only attacking me at the moment. She’s completely fine with her flock mates and other members of my family.

    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

If she was a rooster I’d most likely try and put up with it. I get super attached to my animals and I’d rather not get rid of her, unless keeping her would affect her health or quality of life, if that makes sense.

    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

Thank you! I will try the methods and hope they work. It’d be a shame to have to rehome her.

    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

She attacks me any chance she gets, when I go into the garden when they’re free ranging or into their run before they go to bed. I can’t think of anything specific that could be making her be like this towards me. I’m not aware of any triggers. She isn’t currently broody. I’m completely baffled...

    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

She is 100% a hen. I have witnessed her laying many eggs. I did read that dominant hens can sometimes take over the role of a rooster in a flock without one. Do you think that could be a possibility?

    Hen suddenly extremely aggressive.

Hennifer, my top hen has suddenly starting being very aggressive towards me for no apparent reason, but she is fine with everyone else. In the past couple of weeks she has started attacking my hands and arms and has been grabbing onto my trousers and kicking me with all of her feathers puffed...

Tips to keep hens cool in extreme heat

I was considering that but she seems to be doing okay now. She’s stopped panting and is seeming more like herself.

Tips to keep hens cool in extreme heat

Where I live in England it is currently 36°c, soon to be 38°c and quite humid. I have three hens that have been managing quite well but today one of my silkies is really struggling with the heat. She is sat in the coop panting and I’m worried about her. They are in complete shade in their run...

Is it possible my hen thinks another hen is her chick?

Last week my salmon faverolle got broody, we managed to snap her out of it after a few days and since then she’s been her normal self. But I have noticed the past few nights when locking the girls up, that she and her silkie sister have been sleeping on the floor instead of the roosts. Hennifer...

    Broody pullet being seriously stubborn

It can be super frustrating can’t it! I haven’t had anymore issues with her either (yet) haha. I have my fingers crossed she doesn’t get broody again, at least until summer.

Wheezing, rattling when breathing and swollen face. Please help

We managed to her her tested by the vet. Because at first she just assumed that’s what she had after a phone consultation. It turns out she doesn’t have mycoplasma, thankfully. The vet isn’t really sure what caused the issues but she is back to full health now.

Wheezing, rattling when breathing and swollen face. Please help

I managed to get hold of her vet who also suspected mycoplasma. She gave me Tylan soluble and my girl is already looking much better

Wheezing, rattling when breathing and swollen face. Please help

My 9 month pullet Hennifer has suddenly started wheezing when she breathes. She has been eating and drinking normally and has laid an egg today. Her breathing sounds very bad, she’s wheezing and rattling. The skin under her eyes around her “cheek” area has started to swell. I have contacted her...

    Broody pullet being seriously stubborn

I put her back in the dog crate on Friday. I let her out this morning and she’s finally broke and has stopped being broody. But she hasn’t laid for a couple of days now.

    Broody pullet being seriously stubborn

I will do, I didn’t want to leave her in there for too long as I was worried she’d get stressed from being confined.

Yeah, it was off the ground

    Broody pullet being seriously stubborn

My 8 month silkie pullet, Rose, has been broody for over a week now. We’ve tried the dog crate and she was in there for 4 days but it didn’t seem to faze her. She’s now back in the coop refusing to move. She’s never laid in the nesting boxes so she’s been sitting in the corner. I’ve been having...
