Yes I do, not many hens left I can part with, probably two. Plenty of roosters.
The hens are brown leghorn looking, some roosters also with others splash looking.

Only give the scratch feed as a treat now and then, stick to grower or layer pellets mainly.
Too much protien, they need balanced feed to develope and lay
It's not normal to loose two out of five of those breeds with that size pen at that age.
They may not be getting the right nutrition which...
You should start a thread, "what's the worse predator and how to deal with it".
My good friend had a bear kill his rabbits, I had a bobcat, it couldn't get them to eat them but stayed until they were dead.
Mink and weasel will destroy a flock, they are the worse.
On another note I use a GQF incubator, I candle my eggs after two weeks, room temperature fluctuations are bad and I never measure the humidity, just keep the tray have full of water. I do open the door to check for pip eggs and totally against helping chicks out of the shell. Mom doesn't do it...
Turning them up until the end will not hurt them unless you're doing it manually and opening up the machine losing
heat and humidity. In large machines eggs are moved to a hatching tray 3 or 4 days before they are due to hatch.
This gives them more room, enables you to set more in the turning...
I am fascinated how chickens are living free in Hawaii, I assume they are reproducing.
Any one from Hawaii that may have studied these birds?
It would be nice to have a bird with their instincts surviving around the New England predators'.
Most feed and farm & garden stores sell chicks. Blue Seal and Agway's take orders and have good selections but you have to purchase a minimum of chicks, I think 6.
I don't believe you have to have all the same breeds. Many of these stores have websites now
and you can just purchase pullets.
I raised the broad breasted whites and bronze for food and raised Royal Palm and Bourbon Reds to have free range. I would like to try the Auburn. I don't see any of them around.
Anyone know of anybody raising them?
I tend to buy a good amount of hatching eggs. You have to watch out for the over charging on shipping and if they offer 12 eggs plus extra
they're just out for the money and you probably won't get but one or two chicks.
You probably need that it to be around at least 75 degrees at the height of the chicks and some way to keep them piling up in a cold corner.
Do a test run, put a few out, check the temperature several times at night, chicks will show if their too cold.
Also fox are very good at leaving no sign...
Leghorns lay the most eggs with less feed and lay white eggs.........How many of us are going to buy white eggs to decorate for Easter?
I don't think you can rely on chickens laying as many eggs as ads claim, too many other factors involved.
Probably was an individual chicken having a record year.
You have to wonder why some older breeds fall out of favor.
Like the heritage breeds, example the Dominique.
Were they replaced by larger better egg producers?
or maybe dropped for new and exotic breeds, like the Nankin losing
favor to the Seabright.
I think after developing better production...
