5 month old copper Marans. Gender?

These two I suspect of being males. They’re 5 months and no crowing yet. Blossom is the black one and Lilly is the blue one.

Hi all, Curious about my black and blue copper Marans. Male or female? Lilly looks like a cockerel to me ugh.

Are these French Blue Copper Marans?

I got them from a feed store and couldn’t resist getting some. I have five. 3 lighter gray and 2 black. 4 of the 5 have lightly feathered feet. I have posted one of the lighter grays and one of the black. Are the BCM? If not, any guesses?

What’s with the small one?? And are they Blue Copper Marans?

I’ve raised a few chicks now but none has quite been this slow behind her sisters in terms of growth. They are all supposed to be blue copper Marans. Do they look like it?! I got them from a feed store so I wonder. My little one seems much smaller than her sisters (they’re about 2 wks old now)...

    Wheezing Chickens

I noticed one of my light brahmas wheezing this morning so I immediately separated her and gave her a piece of bread soaked in olive oil. I haven't noticed it working yet. Any other suggestions? Here are a couple of videos to show you what the wheezing is like. She wasn't happy in the cage...

    Beginning of Scaly Leg Mites

I was doing my last application of poultry dust for a mild case of northern fowl mites (fingers crossed they’re gone!) and was checking my hens feet while I had a hold of them. I noticed one that made me wonder about scaly leg mites. Does this look like the beginning stages? This would be my...

When is the right time to isolate a dying chicken? If at all?

Hi all, I have the sweetest hen named Pepper. She’s only 2.5 but she has had some issues and a while back laid a few lash eggs which I know means she won’t be around a ton longer :( Lately she is much more lethargic, falling asleep standing up, ankle deep in snow even though I have plenty of...

    Problem with crop??

Below are pics of my hen, Cinnamon, yesterday when her crop was looking extended and then another I took this morning after a night of no food or drink. Does she look normal this morning? I didn’t feel anything either (felt on right side of chest for lumps, bumps, dough-Iness) but not 100% sure...

    Impacted or sour crop?

She’s looking a little bulky up front. It seems to come and go but something noticeable for a couple days now. Concerning? I also have a pic of my barred rock for comparison.

Injured Hen with No Obvious Trauma

Hi all, I have a two year old hen that started limping yesterday. There are no obvious signs of trauma, but it looks like her leg is crooked now?? She has been fine until yesterday but she did spend more time in the coop with the other chickens instead of going outside as we are in the middle...

15 week EE and Light Brahmas. Are they all still female??

Just wondering if my girls are still girls! I have 4 EE and 4 LB.

11 week old chickies. What gender??

I have eight 11 week old chickens, 4 EE and 4 light Brahmas. I asked about them at 8 weeks and it was guessed all pullets. Do they all look like pullets still?! (Fingers crossed!!)

    Enough ventilation?

I have 21 chickens and so I need 21 feet of ventilation?? I definitely don’t have that much, or even close. I do have two windows across from one another but they won’t be open in the winter. The pic shows one side of the ventilation. The opposite side has the exact same size for ventilation. Do...

    7.5 week old light Brahmas

I know it’s hard to tell so young, but any idea on these 4? 2 on my legs, 1 next to me (no other chicks in photo), and 1 with EE.

7.5 week easter eggers. What gender??

I received no traction when I last posted so thought I’d try again! Any ideas on gender of these four EE?

More EE pics! 6.5 week old chicks

Trying again! It’s been several weeks and wondering if they’re big enough to tell their gender now. One is light Brahma orher is EE. If you think so, I’ll post the rest. I have 8 total. Thanks!! I have added the other 3 EE since their gender might be more obvious. They have names on them.

Dull Comb = sick or molting chicken?

I know chickens molt and have one growing her feather back now. She was pretty obvious, now I have one I’m unsure of. She doesn’t seem to be losing a lot of feathers but has a very dull comb, isn’t moving around a ton (not running over for mealworms even! But does walk over), and sleeping...

Not even sure these are fertilized eggs. Help!

We got rid of our rooster a week ago and within a couple days one of my hens went broody. I left her with three eggs but not sure they’re fertilized from when the rooster was around. I have a pic of the 3 eggs I’ve left her with. It’s been about 6-7 days now. They all look the same to me in the...
