So this is a weird question and I’m pretty sure the answer is probably no. But do y’all think people would be likely to take in a Muscovy drake as a pet (not food) if he came with free unsexed ducklings? I’ve been trying to rehome a couple of mine for a while now but no one is interested...
Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I just bought some durvet vitamin b complex to use in my ducks, and I can’t figure out how to open it. Does it just twist off, pop off, or do I need to like stab it open? I’ve tried twisting and popping and it won’t come off and I can’t find...
I have a muscovy drake named Butters that needs to be rehomed as a pet. I bought him and his 3 brothers from Metzer farms back in late March in hopes of getting some more females for my flock. I was too afraid at the time to buy from anywhere besides a hatchery, but that didn’t work out as I had...
One of my super tolerant muscovy drakes, Fade 😂🥰, they just let me pet all over them. I’ve also been trying to train Fade to sit on my lap, he doesn’t seem to mind 😁
Hi, i recently bought two Muscovy ducklings that should be just under two months old. I was told that they are “powder blue” but I have never heard of powder blue before. Is powder blue a thing? Or are they just regular blue or maybe silver?
Hi, I have 4 straight run Muscovy ducklings that are almost 11 weeks old, I used to be able to see a more noticeable size difference between one and the other three, but now it’s harder to tell. I never noticed a difference in their legs’ sizes. Any guesses on their sex?
I have 8 in total right now. Harley(welsh harlequin), Sheo(Rouen) Rico(rouen mix) Tiny Fearless(rouen/khaki Campbell mix), and Butters, Louise, Gizmo, and Fade(muscovies).
I have four 6 week old Muscovy ducklings that have recently moved outside. They get along well with each other and the older ducks during the day. The first week or so they did good getting locked up at night, but one morning one had some blood on its wing. We thought maybe it had hurt itself on...
Our duck run has one wall that runs along a side of our garage and another that is a 6 foot wooden fence that runs along the property line. There are an endless amount of leaves that fall from huge trees in our neighbors’ yards. We are about to build a roof over the run, but aren’t sure how to...
I have a 9 week old Rouen mix with either a khaki Campbell or welsh harlequin duckling. She has always been a little off. She was hatched from the tiniest egg I had and is still the smallest duckling. She doesn’t run from people or “scary”things like the others do, in fact she doesn’t really run...
Located in Jacksonville, Florida. I have a white crested duck that was born May 9, 2021. Her name is Pouf and she has some slight angel wing. She used to be pretty quiet, but has been so loud since two of her flock were killed. I lock them in their house at night and every morning she quacks...
It will be day 30 in about 7 hours, I have three eggs left in the incubator, one of which just externally pipped on the wrong side. Not on the small end of the egg but where the air sac is smaller, it may have not even hit the air sac. Should it be able to get out of the egg on its own?
In 4 hours it will be day 29 for my duck eggs. 8 of 11 have hatched so far, pretty sure one of the eggs is dead because I haven’t seen movement from it in a week or so. The other two unhatched eggs have not externally pipped, not sure if they have internally pipped. Is it possible to candle them...
I have 11 duck eggs in my incubator and today is day 28 at 8pm. The first one hatched a little while ago and put the humidity up to 82%. I have a dehumidifier I can put in that room if I need to lower it, but do I need to worry about the high humidity or will it not harm them at this point?
It is day 21, these air cells look too small right? I’ve been trying to keep humidity between 35-45% but I live in Florida so every time I add even a tiny bit of water the humidity shoots way up sometimes into the 50s. How can I fix these before lockdown?
Hello, this is day 10 of incubation, do these air sacs look ok? I know one doesn’t look like it’s developing, I’ve been waiting to get rid of it just in case it takes a little longer, is there any chance at this point it could start to develop? Also what’s the thing on top of the egg in the last...
I’ve read before that letting a duckling imprint on you can be cruel because you have to be there to raise it as it’s mother would. Is that only true for wild or single ducklings? Or is it also true for domestic ducklings that will live with other ducks? How do you prevent ducklings hatched in...
Lost two out of five of my sweet feathery babies on Thanksgiving morning:( Found a hidden clutch of their eggs behind their house and collected the rest of their eggs I had gathered the past few days and bought an incubator the next day to try to hatch them. They are/were all so young so I...
I am trying to hatch duck eggs for the first time. I don’t think there’s much of a chance of them hatching but I’m trying anyway. I have a couple that are really dirty, should I clean them before incubating or will the bloom protect the eggs from bacteria? Also I’ve seen mixed answers on the...
Sorry for the long post, I have 4 ducks and 1 drake about 5-6 months old. They were all raised together and have gotten along pretty well up until recently. One female is a white crested and a 2-3 weeks ago her crest started getting shorter and eventually got a bald spot. I separated her from...
