PROBIOTICS for you and your chickens

Quote: I dont' know if anyone has purchased anything from this narcistic maniac, and if you havent' I hope you never do. My parents bought some stuff from him and he cheated them out of their money. When I wrote to him to find out why he did this, his response was, "don't get your panties in...

    Why do people have roos?

Well, I wasn't going to have a roo at all. I ordered all pullets and one of the "girls" ended up being a boy. I was a little disappointed at first, but now that he's grown up I am really glad that I have him. Not only is he beautiful, but like the posts above, he keeps order in the flock, he...

Someone PLEASE turn the broody switch to OFF

Wow! Thankfully, I only have one girl that has gone broody so far, and she isn't so bad. I am able to reach under her and get the eggs out of one box, then she'll move to another box and sit on someone elses eggs, so I have to reach under her again. I would let her hatch some chicks, but my...

    Infectious Bronchitis-does this sound right?

Went to let the girls out this morning, and I think I was mistaken about the other 2 hens being sick. It was pretty humid last night, so I am thinking that maybe the 2 that I thought were getting sick were just panting because it was warm in the coop. Still, other than the wheezing and...

    Infectious Bronchitis-does this sound right?

I got some new chickens to add to my flock. Quarrantiend (sp) them, they all seemed to be healthy, no symptoms of anything. I added them to my flock 5 days ago. Now, I have hens that are wheezing, sneezing, and coughing. It started with 2 hens this morning, now appears to be 2 more tonight...

How much do YOU sell your eggs for?

I currently sell mine for $2.00 a dozen, which is what they were going for at the 2 gas stations in town here where someone was selling theirs. I deliver eggs to the nurses and docs at the local clinic, right down the street from me, and they order any where from 9-11 dozen a week, so there is...

I found some food grade at my local co-op as well, but it only comes in 4# bags. Right now I only use it in their bedding and for dust bathing........

Idea for keeping chickens COOL in outrageous HEAT!! Update w/ PICTURE!

What a great idea! We go through several 1/2 gallons of milk at my work, and put the empty jugs in the recycling. I bet I could bring several of those home to use for the trash can cooling units, plus, one would work great in the 5 gallon waterer as well. We usually don't get really hot here...

Stormed for much of the night here, and it's still cloudy and cool this morning-good day for...

to all premenopausal women!!! and their better halves

Quote: Got my ginko today-will start taking it in the morning. It's time release, so I didn't want to chance taking it and having it disrupt my sleep in any way-I have a hard enough time getting more than 5 hours of sleep at a time as it is these days! Also got some St. Johns Wort, figured...

I need to expand my flock a little as my egg orders have gotten as such that I have no eggs for myself I am looking for 4 or 5 pullets that are between say 9 months and 1 year old as my flock is just shy of 1 year and I would like to keep them all in the same age range. Breed really doesn't...
