I'm sorry to hear she has passed. She was well loved and went a happy bird I imagine. You gave her a spectacular life while she was here, and you'll always have her chicken scratch in your heart
So I was using pine shaving, but my hubby wanted something that stayed in the coop after we got a little shower of pine everytime the coop was opened. So he got a bale of straw hay. Now the chickens love making a nest out of the stuff but is is harder to clean (in my opinion) than pine. So as...
Wow look at all these new folk joining :-) I love seeing pictures of what everyone gets, as well as finding fab stuff for my swap partner. But you know what I enjoy the most? Packing a too small box like a puzzle!
Happy Halloween everyone!! I would love to see everyone's pumpkin carvings, I love how different each and everyone turns out. I am posting a picture of mine to get the ball rolling. My DD (age9) did the first one on the left, I did the wolf, DH did the ghost, and DS (age3) did the classic face...
She will get some scrambled egg tonight with her antibiotic capsule on it.
This morning she was up and clucking so she is out free ranging with my other 2 birds, I am going to bring her in at night though for the next few nights so she can be confined and warm while eating.
Thanks for all your...
after day 3 of rain and the option to free range my Cochin girls (envious of speckles getting all the good stuff) finally ventured out. They LOVED it, their feathery pantiloon were soaked and I could actually see their feet but come bedtime they did NOT want to go in.
I used pine shavings, the little wood chips that come in bale and then my DH thought it would be cleaner to use hay...
personally I would stick to pine shavings... it is way more absorbent and seems less messy than hay.. DH thought that it would prevent all the little fly away bits that make a...
I left my chickens out to free roam while I popped out to my DD school (5 minutes away), in the meantime my DH got home and immediately let our Boston Terrier out to go to the bathroom. I have to start by saying we've had chicken and dog out together before (actually quite a few times before) &...
Getting ready to make some Halloween shaped sugar cookies (Pumpkins & Bats) with homemade butter frosting in purple and orange. I will post pics when the kids are done decorating them :-)

OOPS sorry. I missed that one... I though pg 15 was done!! YAY I am glad you like the goodies, I was worried I didn't put enough in my parcel.
Yeah mud baths are out of the question for my 2 Cochin girls but Speckles my BR is game for anything and is eyeing up a dirt patch in the garden.
I imagine it is ok for them to get wet, I'm sure they would put themselves away if they really didn't like it.
My Boston Terrorist on the other...
So I live out here in the pacific northwest and as most people know it rains... A Lot... IN fact it is raining right now. So since I am home I am going about my normal daily routine and have opened the coop up so they can free range. Well my girls are outside grazing away as though it is a...
I am starting the halloween missions too but I really need more frontierville friends so I can unlock stuff... I don;t want to add random people from facebook so I was kindo hoping a couple of you will add me as Frontierville friends to you Facebook page.
PM with your I.D. or let me know if you...
Ok so I sent my gifts off yesterday before noon and apparently it should be with my partner no later than Monday.
I also received my gift yesterday all the way from Guam!!! I love everything, in fact my DD had a school party on today so I made pumpkin sugar cookies with the cutter last night...
My girls (two 6mo Cohcins and one 4 month BR) aren't laying yet. They will both supposedly start in another 2 month or there abouts. However we are coming in shorter days and less sunlight so that may affect when they start to lay eggs too.
