I'm not exactly a new member, but it's been forever since I've posted. For anyone that remembers me, many things in my life have changed (for the better) in the past three years. First, I kicked out my freeloader of a "fiance", then I went back to University and finished my degrees (Biology and...
I have two girls with piles of babies with them right now. One has 22, the other has 26. They sat on 25 and 31 eggs respectively. The girls really can handle quite a few eggs at a time. Now I am greeted every morning with hungry ducklings as well as having all of the chickens under my feet...
For the adults:
3 mallards
1 cayuga
6 muscovy
1 magpie
I also have 48 baby (2 and 4 weeks old) muscovies with their mothers. One more muscovy sitting and hopefully that will be all this year!
Grand total here equals 59. Way less than what I had last year though, had well over a hundred then...
I've sent in 36 inches over the past 3 1/2 years. I'm blessed with fast growing, very beautiful thick hair, so I decide to bless others with it.

There is actually not enough information to complete the problem. We need to know at least how many digits were in each of those two numbers. Sounds like one of the SAT questions I tutor students with.

Corn only has 9% protein, chickens need 16% at least, otherwise your growth rate and laying rate will drop off significantly. The only thing I use corn for is a treat. I pay $6.50 for a 50 pound bag of whole corn. They typically just get it whole, or if I'm feeling quite well, I'll crack it...
I know here in NC and in SC too all of the brown eggs come from Golden Comets. I've rescued and rehomed nearly a hundred of them, and after they learn you aren't going to hurt them, they are the sweetest girls, and they outlaid my RIR's! Just don't wear gloves when you're messing with them...
We filled up two ice cream buckets after thanksgiving for the chickens, plus one for the bunnies. Now we keep one of the buckets on the counter and I go dump it every day, if I remember it...if it smells funky, it gets dumped in the woods instead of the chicken pen though!
I raise African Soft...
I don't know about chickens, but with rabbits, a racoon will stick their fingers into the cage (1/2 by 1/2) and wiggle their fingers. Bunny comes over to investigate, coon grabs hold and eats everything it can pull through the cage. Not a pretty sight. Luckily around here there are enough...
Anyone near Albemarle, NC have any meat breed rabbits? Looking for NZ's, Californians, Brazilians, or American Chinchillas. I have a pair of castor mini-rex that I can trade, I don't have much cash right now, but I am looking to re-stock my rabbitry in the near future if possible (probably the...
Wheat won't hurt chickens, and it is actually recommended instead of cracked corn for scratch feed. I think 13% protein compaired to 8-9%.
I am not sure that the gluten can be transferred to the meat or eggs, but I don't doubt it. If you're willing to invest the time, you can mix your own...
I'm paying $10 every 3 days for mine. I'm not getting ANY eggs right now, and that is from the guineas, ducks, and chickens. We haven't gotten any eggs for over a month now (molting, grrr), so count your blessings!
I'm trying to sell all of my birds, not for them being freeloaders, other...
