I dont know if it is feather plucking or not. Could it be a molt starting? I have 5 hens. 2 easter eggers and 3 black star hens. The easter eggers both look a little ratty but this one in particular looks the worst.
Have been noticing that my easter eggers feathers have been looking ratty lately and now I saw this today. I am not sure if this hen is laying or not but I do know that one of the two is. She is 9 months old so should not be molting.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am always curious about size recomendations. If you ask someone who raoses chickens on a farm they will tell you 2 sq ft per bird. If you ask someone who does it as a hobby its 4 sq ft minimum. My coop is 4x4 and houses 5 birds just fine. I guess i split the difference being around 3 sq ft. I...
I just set my waterer up with an aquarium heater. My waterer is a pvc j that uses atmospheric pressure to maintain water level. I could not use any of the poultry water heaters with this setup. I put a rubber cap on the top spliced the heater wire and ran it through the rubber and sealed it...
Wanted to give you guys an update and see if it would help. She is not doing the weezing thing as much and her breathing seems less labored. She is making a soft gurgling noise when she is breathing though. I put her in a laundry tub with food/water and a 60w red bulb to keep her warm...
Not sure what this is about. My ee may have laid her first egg yesterday but now is doing this. I made a video to show rather then explain.
Hopefully someone can tell me whats up.
Thanks

Anybody have any ideas? I am going to separate her now. I think she has been laying for over a week but it could have been the other EE that was laying. If that's the case she just laid her first egg because I had 2 in the nest box today. One large and one small blue egg.
I am in eastern pa. Warminster to be exact. I can build a coop for you. Email me at [email protected]. I based my coop from the amish coops at horizon structures. We slow down in the winter so i can take on more carpentry projects.
Thanks,
Kris
The main types of residential roll roofing would be either glue down, torch down or peel and stick. Peel and stick would be the easiest to use for a coop but its a bit more expensive to buy. Torch down needs base sheet installed with cap nails. (I cant tell you how many times I have seen a...
I plan on using the roof vents on my coop. I was going to install a soffitt vent but they will actually provide more square footage venting wise for my setup and they are the highest point on the structure allowing the moist air to escape. I plan to install them as well as sheet metal on the...
