You let them go?
yes, they probably end up as coyote food but at least they have a chance. They always start out swimming down stream in the creek but we have never seen any of them again.
This is our first batch of chicks. we do ducks every year and let them go. Our littlest loves to swim with them in the tub. lol I don't remember them being this messy before. Oh well.
This year we were planning on putting the ducks in the chicken run.
Hi, I search the forum but didn't see what I was looking for. Anyway, we have 6 chicks and 2 ducklings in a plastic tub in our tub. They are 2 weeks and big enough to fly out of the tub but not able to get back in yet. They eat like pigs and crap even more.
They go thru a quart of feed...
I talked to the poultry club pres today and he's going to help teach us how to show them and we found a local place to buy some chicks so I just wanted to say thanks for all the input!
wow, thanks for all the input.
I didn't realize it was such a serious subject. She just wants to have fun and likes the birds.
life would be much more fun if parents would get out of the way and let the kids have fun. We have the same kind of stuff with baseball and softball.
Thanks! I found Ameraucana's, I didn't know the corect name of the breed, they are listed under the rare breeds. Thanks again.
The one we have that lays green eggs is white with black specks so I'm not sure what breed or mix it actually is. we got it from a local farmer that just has...
Hi All,
Our 3rd grader is in 4h for the first time and wants to show easter eggers. we have one but it's too old to show. I have searched online to find a hatchery that sells them but no luck does anyone know where to get them?
Thanks!
We have a small flock of only 6 hens, until summer the last week or so we have had only the green eggs being pecked... What's up with that? none of the white or brown ones. just the green. Any ideas?
Thank you.
this one has the least sawtoothed comb but it still looks like it is somewhat. Not a good pic but the best I have of it. I'll look closer in the day tomorrow.
these are the eggs. we have 6 hens. 3 red 2 white and 1 speckled. we get 0 to 3 eggs per day total. I have no idea which ones lay what. I think the speckled lays the green, no more than 1 per day... We have more brown eggs than anything but more green than white. I think the white hens are...
Our youngest daughter spends hours in the hen house with them. We just let them out into the temporary run for the first time today. They started digging holes right away. We have no idea what kind they are. We think the speckled one lays the green eggs.
Thanks!
ok, I'm convinced. 2x2 is not strong enough. today I found a source for cheap 2x4's. How about screwing 2 2x4's together. i"m sure that would be strong enough but I'm wondering if water would get between them and rot way faster. and yes, they are treated.
by "cheap" I mean free
I only thought of 2x2 while searching craigslist for 4x4. I found a guy that has 100 2x2 for a buck each but I would have to pull them out of the ground. not really looking forward to that effort. lol
I'm looking to learn from your ideas, not my own mistakes.
I am building a chicken moat and would like to use 4x4 treated for the posts just because I like the look better than steel posts but don't really have the money so I was wondering if 2x2 is strong enough? The biggest predator we...
