WANTED: Good home for one adorable Australian Cattle Pup!!!

If you love your puppy and DO want to keep him, don't be too hasty in finding a new home for him. I had a wonderful ACD, she loved my grandson from the time we brought him home from the hospital. She loved him so much that she would gather up anything that was his, socks, toys, tshirts, bottle...

    skillet incubator

Years ago, someone brought my mother a Canada Goose egg, can't remember why or how they got it, it was already partly thru its incubation period. She hatched it out in her electric skillet, back then I don't think glass lids were available. She kept it on lowest heat setting, put a small...

    Looky what I [finally] caught!!

Quote: Agree! Don't set traps if your not willing to do what's best for the animal in the long run. Relocating is not what's best.

    A fisher cat?

Quote: Thanks for the info, real_redhead, those pics are certainly scarey! I hope I don't ever run into one of these creatures! Have many or any of you out there ever actually seen any of these? In farmland? Didn't realize they could get that big!

When you trap a predator...how do you dispose?

I agree with the others who said why bother trapping if your not going to kill it. And coons are nasty disease spreaders, so little contact with them as possible. I am a woman who absolutely hates killing animals,no matter what kind, but I do it for my girls. I wear long sleeves and gloves when...

    Washing & storing eggs

I'm not the original poster, but, how long can the eggs be safely kept unwashed and unrefridgerated? Days? Weeks? And at what room temps? I know they say store bought eggs can sometimes be several weeks old or even months when you buy them, washed of course.YUCK

    Lavender Orpington Roo or Hen?

Glad to hear your family and animals made it thru the storm! Hatching eggs received thru the mail is sometimes a gamble, so do your research on the seller as well as incubators. Some folks have good luck with the cheaper units, others don't. I'm in Ohio, I "try" to get the eggs I desire from...

Quote: Thank you, the eggs are from Bargain, the lady from Georgia, who offers many types of chicken eggs on BYC...I am very happy with the ones that I have hatched. Hatching them yourself, makes them even friendlier towards you! I agree, the Orpington breed is very nice, mine folllow me...

Are chicks skittish and get calmer later?

I thought my chicks didn't like me when they were small and thought they would grow up to be wild, but they are fine now, and really friendly and lovable, I have one who jumps into my lap and takes a nap! I've heard they freak out when your reaching in to care for them from above, they may think...

    has anyone tried Shake Away?

I didn't think I would have it in me to kill the coons and skunks either, but the skunks were stealing most of the eggs daily. The only thing that can make me pull the trigger is the mental thought of it ripping my panicked chickens apart. I don't like doing it, but I love my chooks more. I've...

HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!! Is he still alive???**PICS**

Hello little one, if it were me, I would prob have a few damp sponges in there. Years ago, someone brought to my mother a wild Canada Goose egg, we thought by candling, it was partially incubated. Mom had one of those little yellow GQF chickabators, that holds 3 chicken eggs, I think you can...
