to cute.
We just got our chickens last year too. I have 6 under broody now, and have 15 in our first homemade bator. Can't wait to see them fuzzy butt's too
can't wait to hear, prayers are with your chicks
This is our first broody and bator experience, I have 15 in bator now and 6 under broody... and I agree very stressful

What was the one you calibrated at?
I have mine at 100 and my humidity sits at 45%
my problem is that I can't figure out how to get my humidity higher... I am fine at 45% right now but in another 2 weeks will need it higher
This is great, I have to admit I have read through all 30 pages.
Will be trying this when I find some good eggs to use, right now have my own in our bator.

Oh would love to know the results of that. I am not that fond of the whole bleach thing. The big chicken farms might use it but they also keep their chickens penned up and shoot them up with shots too.
Look at freecycler and craigslist for things you need for it. We used a fishtank for ours, got the idea from the homemade incubator page listed in prior post but changed it up a bit. If you aren't starting it right now, keep an eye out for cheap or on sale items for it or ebay them.
This is interesting. I rinse my eggs off in a luke warm water, but have never rinsed with a bleach solution. I would think some of the chemicals would get through the shell.
Put 11 eggs in bator last night, this is our first batch in our first homemade bator so really right now
If all works out with this batch I will be looking for some Black Copper Maran eggs to do next
just put eggs in tonight
first batch in bator we made. Temp is at 99.5 and RH is at 43%
can't figure out who is more excited me or 11 year old daughter lol
