    Weird yolkk color from WH

I have cooked some up but gave them to my birds and dogs but haven't had the nerve to taste them. OH wait I think I did use 2 in a cake the other day........cake turned out wonderful btw. We don't have too many Quakers in MO so I doubt I would see them forging

    Weird yolkk color from WH

I guess the only way to know for sure is to lock them up for a few days where they don't have access to the acorns, that would solve the mystery IF they went back to normal. Not really wanting to do that just yet as I'm not thrilled about putting them back in the barn area at night cause they...

Okay, it was hard to get the color to show correctly so I cracked one of my chicken eggs next to the 3 duck eggs. As you can see they are a brownish with a hint of green. Would you eat these, LOL!

    Weird yolkk color from WH

Well, they aren't really green more a tanish color. Let me break a couple and see if I can get a picture. Not all are this way so it may be a little bit before I can get a photo. I really think it has to be the acorns we have a zillion of little tiny ones and we have 20 count em 20 oak trees...

    Is this just heat stress?

That does make me feel a little better regarding the molting. It came at a bad time with this heat. I did notice at the time this started that they were losing tons of tiny downy feathers but also one day all over the cement pad was like mixed in with the tiny feathers was almost like white...

    Is this just heat stress?

I kinda doubt that and also they are in the area staying within sometimes 2 feet or so from the pool. This is basically where they are hanging out all day it's under a big tree. They just stand around and peck at stuff and stay in a small area for most of the time. They are basically not...

    Is this just heat stress?

Ok, I give up they are not even close to the same ducks that they were before the 100+ degree heat we had! These are not little babies they are about full size fully feathered almost 3 months old. They loved their pool actually pools as they had a small and a large one. Would go nuts for...

    Is this just heat stress?

Most times they've been sitting not near the tree where their pool and water pan is (we have lots of trees in the yard) and they have not touched food or water all day even when they are close. I am sure of that and when I throw their peas or even throw them in their water they just ignore it...

    Is this just heat stress?

I have 5 WH 11 week old ducks. Very spoiled ducks I may add They normally are very friendly, get treats of peas/corn everyday and usually lately a slice of watermelon plus their dry feed. They have a large plastic pool that they LOVE. I moved them to my LARGE fenced back yard a couple...

To Swim Or Not To Swim?

Mine haven't been under a heat lamp since about 10 days old they are now 3.5 weeks old and are outside with a pool everyday in a big fenced in yard area. I do put them in a secure building at nite but they sure don't need heat in Missouri right now. If you are in OK I would think it is even...

That makes sense. I know it is just a fluke thing and may never see it again. I also notice it isn't on the pointy end I just thought I remembered it that way until I saw my own pic......duh

    Very Strange Egg!

I have had chickens off and on for many years and never saw something like this! It looks like an umbilical cord sticking out of the pointy end. Anyone have an idea what this is about??

More duck questions...some specific to WH

I have 5 WH 8 days old. I have been giving them peas since day 4. Mine go absolutely NUTS for them! They really have fun with them in the bathtub, dive for them. Have you tried tossing some in their bath water. It really gets their attention. Mine also go nuts for chopped up kale.
