So I this chick doesn't have as many feathers as the others and it's comb is already starting to show quite a lot. None of my other chicks combs are even starting.
So what do you think?
What kind of bedding could I use on top of that? We have a large shed that was built and never finished in our back yard, it is wired for electricity and seperated into two partitions one of which is 7'x15' which would make a very nice sized coop with a 15'x45' run attached.
The problem is the...
So the 18th is when Wilco gets in their turkey stock and I want to raise two to cull at around 10lbs and eat for Tday and Xmas. Will they be lonely if I only get 2 or is that an ok number?
I mean if I need more I can certainly buy more, on a note of more since I will be near chicks too can put...
So in my brooder I have 1 EE, 1 BR, and a the BSL. The BSL looks like it is a week or two older size wise but I bought them all as 1 day old chicks from feed store.
Is that typical of BSL's?
During the day he free ranges around the property and enjoys his robust sound (he crows at every sounds) and he follows me around and acts all pretty. He takes treats right out of our hands.
Today he jumped in my car and then followed me into the house.
Do all Roo's do this or just mine...
I currently have 7 ladies and have randomly acquired a roo. The coop when finished will be 7'x8' and they will have a run of 10'x30'(might be 40' not sure yet)
I know that is enough room for that amount (it is right?) but what is the maximum I could have if I desired?

What is he and what should I do?
The ladies are loving him up... I got them in their coop and he is walking around crowing at them.
He came right up to me and followed me around the yard...
Last night a neighborhood dog got in the yard and took out two of my buffs. So we were going to have 9 ladies, the coop I am building is 6'x8' and they will have a run of 10'x20'.
Should I replace the two that have perished or be happy with a flock of 7?
Neighborhood dog came in to yard and killed two of my gals... I am so sad...
They are all locked in their coop for the night. I guess I will have to get a fence for the front yard... Ugh...
So my 6 that are outside are about 12/13 weeks old now and my 3 littles are 3 weeks old now. When and how do I go about introducing them?
They will be put in the temporary/small coop and run that the older's are in atm because the big coop and run should be finished by then.
So I have three ladies in the brooder who are three weeks old now and they just started an odd behavior that my other 6 didn't do when we had them in the brooder. They are scratching the pellets and breaking them and then rolling and making a hole to sit in and hang out. When I first saw it...
and found one around the same age 12 (weeks) as the girls outside on CL for free. How hard would it feasibly be to introduce it into the flock?
It is BR roo...
We found a large shingled dog house on our property (we recently bought the house) and took the nails out of the back and put hinges and a lock on. We used an old shower rod for their perch, and we are getting their nesting boxes together out of an old toy holder of my daughters.
It is all...
