Beware of ordering from them. I ordered chicks at the beginning of April this year, there is no guaranteed delivery date, I was given a probable date of the end of July. Well mid August came around and I still didn’t know when my chicks would be coming and haven’t heard anything back. I asked...
My advice is don’t buy from them, I ordered chicks at the beginning of April and my order still hasn’t been fulfilled and it’s mid August! Nothing but excuses as to why the chicks weren’t ready. Asked for a refund and was only given a small partial one, now I have to go through my credit card...
I know this is an old thread but I thought I would update with a review with the only other processor in my area. Kodelman Processing in Ottawa Lake. I have been butchering all my own birds for the last few years but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to take my last batch of this year to...
I can assure you that he's purebred. His mother is one of the hens pictures and his dad was a decent black Marans male. All my Marans came from Wynette Adamson here in Michigan. He obviously doesn't have good type so I ordered some Black and Blue hatching eggs from Beverly Robertson , I'm hoping...
I just thought I'd share a couple pictures from my BBS pen. I am currently looking to replace the black cockerel with a better specimen, if any of you have chicks or hatching eggs to sell, I'd be interested.
Lady,
I would actually hazard to guess that your girl is a Welsummer Wyandotte cross. She doesn't exhibit any EE traits at all. She definitely carries the salmon breasted partridge coloring of a Welsummer hen. Just an observation
Most breeds do fine in a mixed flock. At one time I had a mixed flock of 20+ breeds until I decided what breeds I liked best.
I would not suggest mixing bantam and large fowl breeds if you are tight on space though.
I also gave my polish to my mother as they were too timid to be in a flock of...
Hello everyone
It's been pretty busy around home, with all the cutting and splitting of this winter's firewood. I still drop in once an a while though.
Your welcome. You will know whether it's gleet or not because of the unique smell. I have used generic Monistat and had good luck with it. Make sure you separate the bird from the rest of the flock IF you have a rooster, as he could potentially spread it to the other hens.
Looks like vent gleet. If it smells similar to a rotting animal carcass, then it is gleet and you can treat it with feminine fungal infection medicine.
Great :) Im only a PM away, just let me know when ready for them. I was hoping to get some good photos before the weather turned nasty...so much for that.
I bought hatching eggs and chicks from one of the top show breeders here in Michigan. My hubby and I drove almost two hours each way to pick them up, one trip for the eggs and another trip for the chicks a few months later. She has amazing birds.
I don't have a chart yet but I need to order...
I should also have said, if she does have a pea comb, then my next guess would be EE although the pure white ones are very rare and she does have wattles so that doesn't 100% match up either.
Very beautiful interesting girl you have there. Can you tell me if she has a pea comb or straight because it looks like she has a pea comb from the pictures...which doesn't make sense if she is an Austrawhite, which is my first guess.
