anyone bought black copper maran , cuckoo maran, and barnvelder chicks from cackle .? How is the quality of the chicks and the egg color ?

we are getting a few eggs with a whitish membrane look in the white of the egg . Doesnt seem to affect the taste and it pretty much dissappears when you scramble them .BUT I think we may have lost a couple of egg customers s because of this . any ideas what might be causing this ?

we added a few(6) young pullets to our flock of 22 hens a couple weeks ago . It seems like the hens stopped layng . Is this normal ? The hens are getting older (3 years ) . But we are only getting 0-2 eggs a day when we were getting 7-10. How long will this last ?

well we had a broody cuckoo maran so we gave her 6 eggs to sit on . 3 days ago they started hatching and we now have 3 new chicks . ............ do we need to keep the hen and chicks away from the other hens ? and for how long ............. the roo is a RIR and the eggs were all from cuckoo...

well I have considered a breeder BUT I dont want to deal with straight run chicks . I have considered hatching eggs as well ,but the same reason hurts that idea as well . My wife just will not agree to butchering any for meat and I just dont know what to do with the cockerals .............. i...

I got 5 welsummers from welp last spring and they have done well ............... I'm no expert but I have no complaints about my welsummers .............. they lay a nice dark brown speckled egg !!!
