    Darned freaking LICE!

Thanks! You don't worry about getting the powder on yourself as you poof it with the pantyhose? When using the spray, do you only need to apply it to selected areas because its effect spreads?

    Darned freaking LICE!

Are you using powder or spray? .25% or .10%? Applying directly to the chickens? How much (how much of the chicken do you have to cover)? It seems really hard to get spray or powder all over the chickens' skin.

    Darned freaking LICE!

Thanks for your reply. Definitely lice. They are all over the chickens during the day. Not to say there couldn't ALSO be mites - I haven't checked them for mites at night. I've read articles that say some lice do bite chickens. However I certainly could be dealing with multiple parasites, since...

    Darned freaking LICE!

Good afternoon, chicken lovers! I have a backyard flock of 8 hens ranging in ages from 2 to 6 years. I definitely have a lice problem, I've seen them. I believe they have been the issue in sickening (almost killing) one of my 6 year old girls. I've done 2 applications of Poultry Protector...

    Round worm treatment...

Thanks dawg53 ~ My local feed store didn't carry valbazen, so I had to order it on line. I now have a millennium supply! It was certainly easy enough to administer, I just put the 1/2 cc on a little individual treat of angel food cake, and the chickens ecstatically gobbled it up. So, do I...

    Round worm treatment...

Hi everyone, I've spent a few hours searching through older threads, hoping to find the answer to this, but haven't yet, so I'm hoping someone can come to my rescue. My chickens have round worms. I know this for sure as I found some of the worms in poop as I was cleaning the coup. I have...

    Help! Reddish poop!

You've been feeding watermelon? Hmmmm. When we've fed ours tomatoes, I see red poop. Kinda freaked me out until I put together that it happened after they got the tomatoes. Two days later with no tomatoes, no red poop. My guess would be it's watermelon passing through not quite digested.

Cute Chicken Video my son made

TheSpiceGirls ~ I have no idea why this works! My husband somehow knew about this, and couldn't wait until our girls were big enough to try it! Some seem to 'hypnotize' better than others. Our Welsummer isn't as calm and friendly as our others, and she doesn't hypnotize very well because she's...

Cute Chicken Video my son made

My son made this video of a couple of our chickens being 'hypnotized' and is dying for me to put it up on here so that he gets lots of views! Please take a look (it would make him so happy :o) and it's not too long: hypnotized chickens Thanks for watching!

    How dangerous are snakes?

Wow, now I see they're never really safe It appears snakes are more of a problem than coyotes, dogs, raccoons, hawks and owls - at least I can keep all those out with the wire. I'm not sure how to keep a snake out. I know from owning a pet snake about the same size as the one I saw that they...

    How dangerous are snakes?

Thanks, Hoosierchickens, that's what I was looking for. Looks like another month of keeping a close eye. Well, SeaisforChicken, it's a lot of linear feet to cover in cardboard or plastic. We might do the bird net, but I guess we'll see if we want to go to even more expense. Otherwise, we...

    How dangerous are snakes?

Thanks for the coop compliments! That was supposed to be the ''inexpensive'' coop - ha ha, yeah, right. I think we all know how that goes. I can't even think about what that first egg is going to cost us. We certainly didn't take on chickens for the money saved in buying eggs! They are a...

How high up did you make it go? Snakes can climb quite high.
