got caught up just in time for bed... i hope to sleep tonight. i got me some cough stuff to help with that. tried really hard to give a few of my month old chicks to a gal i've known for years and years. she said she doesn't have the room (her yard is three times the size of mine lol) and her dh...

Sounds like a commercial advertisement opportunity. "We aren't saying that our tires are better than yours, but our tires are more difficult to cut into with a knife."
i was thinking the same thing!
morning everyone... trying hard to convince myself that i need to stay awake today. my sleep is always screwy. i finally made it to bed about 1am. 5:30 was WAY too early, but i got the girls to the bus stop
KarenN, i say it's worth a shot!
loved the pics.
i'd have to agree on Studly doo...
my mix includes: 1 New Hampshire red rooster, 1 Jersey Giant hen, 1 black sexlink hen, 1 light brown leghorn hen, 1 Rhodes Island red hen, 1 Easter Egger Rooster, and 3 Red Shaver hens (i think they are)
i have two roosters and seven hens. 6 or 7 breeds. i love to mix breed, and so far am happy with the results:
the one that's blurred is an add in, not from my mix
one on right is add in

that's what i was thinking. it'll be nice to have greenish eggs. the rs hens i have lay a pinkish medium brown right now... maybe they aren't rs then... when i bought them they (atwoods) only listed 3 on stickers on the tub they were in. i also had 2 ee hens and they weren't listed on...

I am a little surprised he is aggressive toward you, but not toward others. Usually, a roo that has been hand fed will bond with the person who feeds it and be agressive toward folks other than the feeder, almost like he is territorial about the person who feeds him.

believe it or not, i really miss the scream of my mom's peacock, and the guinea's as well i can't talk DH into getting a few... he says we're pushing our luck with the two roosters.
I love the sound of our guineas and peafowl. Our peafowl sound like a goose squawking.

He has a pretty comb.
Around my house, you have to either be nice or be tasty. Have you tried flying lessons for him? Like across the yard and launched with your boot? That is the first "lesson" I give roosters to try and adjust their attitude.
yes we have a...
btw, DH said that we really need to get rid of spot. said not to worry about selling him, just give him to someone that needs/wants him. recap: he is aggressive (not so much when there is PLENTY of scratch and food (meaning food has to be full and a bit of scratch). he has taken the feathers off...

nice , that looks great ..... you will totally enjoy that coop as well as the birds
They are enjoying not having to share with the chickens and now, since they are away from the driveway, they will stop screaming at the trash truck and the UPS man and every other unsuspecting motorist...
