My BO lays daily. Never missed a day since she started. A week ago i checked her nest, which she has moved 3 times, all to places easily found. So i assumed she stopped for some reason, maybe a molt starting, or she was planning on going broody, but a week of no eggs and nothing. Well, today...

I'm not racist or anything...but I will never have a white duck again. Because it rains. Because it gets muddy. Because she just can't avoid the mud and seeks it out.

    dear chickens....

Life is good here I know. I know I've spoiled you rotten and showered you with treats. Our babies(around 3 months I think, a SLW and a buff cochin banty frizzle.) are living full time outside and doing fine...except at bedtime. For 3 weeks straight, every single night, we have relocated them to the roost in the pen. They refuse to do it on their own. Instead they seem to prefer...

    The funky winged chick

We got a new chick(silver laced wyandotte). I couldn't deal with it being in the cage alone, which the only time it was in there was while my oldest was asleep, rest of the time she was on her shoulder. So, took kidlet 2 to the feed store. they had bantys and reds. She didn't want a red, but...

    Kitty likes the new chickies

It stays really warm and there are no drafts in there. There is a thermometer at both ends of the cage, one end is holding about 88, the other at 93. The 2 chickies were actually acting like they were to warm earlier so we took the cover off the end without the lamp.
