    I can understand shooting wild animals but I couldn't shoot a dog or cat for that matter. That's about as close to shooting a human as it gets. I could use a paintball gun or something like that to scare them away.

    What about possums and raccoons? I would think a big enough rooster with spurs still on would be able to defend itself wouldn't it?

    I stay in Louisiana. Probably only going with 3 or 4 hens at first. Thinking Welsummers are a good breed to deal with the heat. I know this is the chicken coop thread but while I have your attention I might as well ask. Is it necessary to get chickens vaccinated when you order them?

    I'm thinking about getting into the chicken raisin biz and was wondering what your thoughts are on just using a chicken tractor for the chickens permanent residence. They would be able to free range during daytime hours.
