Mine have been free ranging from 7 am to 7 pm since they were 3 months old. I have not had any trouble with predators. The girls are so happy to go out each morning. When I go down to close their coop and run at night, they have usually already put themselves to bed.
I got my first chicks this spring. Some have just started laying in the last couple of weeks. Will they lay through the winter? I am in central Mississippi.
They are super healthy!! I just got 8 new chicks yesterday that are supposed to be the same age and mine look weeks ahead of them. Of course mine have gotten to free range quite a bit over the past few weeks. Love y chickens
I will be interested to see any replies. I have noticed the same thing on my 9 week old RIR rooster. Not super pale.........just not as red as other times.
I am also planning my run. Right now the plan is to dig an 18" trench around the run and fill with concrete. Also have plans to sink about a foot ofmthe hardware cloth into the concrete. Does anyone see a problem with this part of the plan?
