No idea on age. That's why I included the pic a few days after we bought our chicks. I'm guessing they were 2-3 weeks? That would make them between 10-11 weeks now. But that's just a wild guess.
Still wondering about this one. Here are some pictures as he/she has been growing:
A few days after we got our chicks, on April 5:
When we started to think this was a roo:
And again, nice little crown and wattle starting to grow.
This was taken about two days ago. The crown and wattle...
Had a chat with a neighbor yesterday. Everyone around us wouldn't be bothered at all by a roo and think our chicken endeavor is great fun! But she told me (we moved in here last summer so we're still learning some of the neighborhood secrets...lol) that one street over there is a gentleman who...
Yes, I know the gender on the first three, it's pretty obvious. We are questioning Big Red. But after watching Alfalfa, Patty, and Big Red have a couple teenage show downs last night...lol...I'm gonna say roo.
I posted a while back but today I got some updated pictures of our little ones. As best we know, they are at least a month old, maybe 5-6 weeks....?
Wondering the breed on these:
Nugget
Alfalfa
Patty (I know...girl name and it's obviously a roo. LOL!! He was named when he was too...
Will have pics in a few weeks hopefully. This is exactly what we are doing in our barn/shed. Neighbors have told us that the area we are using was once used to house goats. So there is some framing already in that will be perfect for putting in a door. We also have some shelves in that...
Thinking of all who are flooded in!
LOVE the Clematis pictures!! I planted one last year in my back yard. Thought it had withered away a couple months later but this year it's come back with SO many buds!!
One upside to the rain: all the worms in the puddles and mud. The kids...
Hello! New to BYC and just found this group.
My older two dd's and I crochet. I don't as much as I used to (time and shoulder issues) but my girls do all. the. time.
Such a lovely chandelier it is!!
In the first pic, Rooster Thor looks like he has a bit of an Easter hangover! Sorry to hear he was hurt!
Dh and I just got done covering a couple of our raised beds. We just planted seeds early last week and two of the beds are flooding. Grrrrr...
Our inside coop has a cement floor that we'll cover with straw or pine shavings.
We're also trying to figure how big to make the outside run. Just got back from pricing supplies. I think we'll have it at least 20' wide (the depth of our little barn) but I'm not sure of the length yet. I'm...
Robin ~ I have no idea. Just that they are the kind that won't be laying eggs for me. LOL!! I posted a thread in the gender/breed help forum last night and there are pics.
Didn't you know spare roosters taste the best
That's why she wants them. lol "Makes the best chicken and noodles...
Thanks for the welcome!
I just posted some pics in the breed/gender forum. I think out of our eight, we have at least two roos. Which stinks b/c we can't keep them. I have a friend who might be able to take them but I think she would be butchering them. So if anyone wants a couple to...
I've been searching through this forum tonight so I'll add my guesses. But I'd love help! We can't keep roos so.... I can try and get better pictures tomorrow if you need more angles or anything.
The best we know, they are all about the same age. The RIR may be a bit older b/c he(?) was...
