    A new "rogue" nest :)

Almost all my girls have started laying...only two holdouts left. Miss Big Bird decided that the nest boxes weren't to her liking so she borrowed Miss Dharma Kitty's scratching post on the back porch to lay her first egg.

    After the hawk attack

I saved my Buff Orpington from a hawk yesterday (thread on predators board). I checked her all over for injuries and cannot find anything other than a few missing feathers that were on the ground. This morning she is totally not acting like herself. She's walking slowly behind the others and...

    Saved from a hawk attack!

I've finally calmed down and have stopped shaking! I was walking down a hall in my home and heard the chickies chattering whilst hanging out in one of their favorite spots...one of our asparagus patches that is right under my husband's office window. I went in to his office and started talking...

Help me identify my little roo + two more added to post :)

Hi! I have one roo and I'm not sure what breed he is. He came in my order from McMurray this summer. He is so small compared to my EE's...about the same size as my Silkies. Any ideas? In this pic he's a little wet from the rain so his feet aren't looking as feathered as they normally do. Thanks...

I came home from errands tonight to find one of my Polish chicks completely plucked of her top notch. Another one looks like she has had a few top feathers plucked too. I cannot tell who the culprit is. I have a mix of Silkies, EErs, Cochins and Polish. All but the Silkies are supposed to be...

New to be Chickie mom is a nervous wreck! Questions...

Hi! I've been reading this board for months trying to learn all I can. We've got our coop almost ready to go. Our brooder is set up and awaiting our new babies. The brooder is located in my old barn office. I am confused about how cool or warm to keep it? I live in East Texas and we reach around...
