Anyone located near the Gilroy California area? I'm looking to purchase at least 2 female quail. I currently have 3 male and 1 female separate cages. I had some loses during the crazy heat and now my boys are lonely and driving me and my neighbors nuts with all that crowing.
80 humidity is to high. They can go about 36 hours in the incubator maybe less not more they will starve. You did nothing wrong. You were doing everything right.
I know but I already have a coop and I have more kids than chickens. I'm down to one chicken. I can't have anymore I don't like to keep them locked up but I have an overzealous boxer who plays to ruff.
This is my coop.
So, my parents got my girls a swing set about 2 years ago. The fort area with the slide is ok, but needs to be refinished. It's not redwood or cedar the wood is awful. When my eldest swings it lifts and rocks even with anchors and now the two post on the end are moving. I want to get a metal...
And its kinda creeping me out. I put a curtain up and that seemed to stop it for awhile. But its picked up recently. They get oyster shell all the time. Has anyone every experienced this and what did you do. Also, I use a basic nesting box and was thinking of using these...
My hubby wants to turn that area into a garden, so we are trying to get rid of the weeds. I'm also planning on sectioning off another area so the don't demolish the garden and still have room to play.
So, I have about 500 square feet of yard fenced off for five LF chickens and lots and lots of weeds. How long would it take for them to clear that area out? 32 square feet is the run and 12 square feet is the chicken house. The run was bare within like 3 days of putting them out there.

Which one...
The aren't fully feathered yet, so I'm planning on waiting for that, but I've noticed the weather here is in the 60's during the day and 30's to 40's at night. Should I start turning the light off at night to get them adjusted to the lower temps? Are house does get pretty cold.
I want to get chickens. I've heard that Gilroy passed an ordinace allowing 6 chickens. Supposedly went into effect in April. Does anyone know for sure if this went into effect? http://www.codepublishing.com/ca/gilroy/html/Gilroy04.html#4.20 Still says no chickens...
According to Gilroy They allow up to 6 small animals under 24" (not including dogs or cats) Coop restrictions: 20ft from and dwelling and no roosters.

If anyone know...
Is the new ordinance actually in effect if you click http://www.codepublishing.com/ca/gilroy/html/Gilroy04.html#4.20 it still says no chickens. Have you head anything else?
Yes! I've been waiting since I bought my house out here. Have they actually approved it? My neighbor has 2 right now. Yes I admit I've been a little jealous.
