    Advice needed.

Personally, I believe that people become friends for a reason. People that are strangers become "involved" for a reason. Knowing someone on a friend level, there should be limits and boundaries, friends don't make good lovers. Strangers, once involved for some time become friends but only...

Mealworms, both fresh live ones and dry freezed ones. People food...I haven't found anything they like yet?? Maybe I have picky chickens! Just my luck, ahhh love em anyways. I'm reading that spaghetti noodles seem to be a "hot" item that chickens like so I'm gonna give that a try.

    Vinyl shower curtain for privacy?

That is what I thought about after I posted. I think they would use it if it was like that. I have 1 pullet that loves to explore anything, including a baby water snake that was in my yard. I mean it was tiny, so it probably couldn't have bit any part of her. Funny thing, she made a...

    Vinyl shower curtain for privacy?

ok so do you cut holes in the burlap or just let it hang? I have 6 nesting boxes in the coop. 3 on each side with dividers in between each. If I use a curtain of some type I would use 1 for each box, but unsure if they will go into the box with the curtain there. Does your chickens just push...

My Hens Sleeping in the Run - Not the Coop - HELP??!!

Is it a bad idea to let them sleep in the run? I have 1 pullet and my roo that prefers to sleep outside and not with the younger pullets in the coop. Should I put her in there at night? Also, I was told that a roo will not go in the hen house at all. Well if that is true, my roo is not following...

Quote: Oh my gosh! I have a full grown white turkey with a massive wing span. Well lately she has been following me around the yard like my shadow. The other day I went to the garden to pick a green pepper and she followed. Well I went back to the coop and she didnt realize it till I was...

do chickens stay in their yard ?

Quote: My first birds (goodness, they're a year and a half, now) do that when I say "CHICKY CHICKY CHICKIES!!!!", but the new batch of birds hatched in August just sit there and look at me blankly. They're quite frightened of the big girls, but I wish they'd get over it and follow me around...

do chickens stay in their yard ?

How long have you had them? I was told that you have to leave them in their coop/run for at least 2 weeks so they know where "home" is. That way they will return to eat and roost. I have done this and my chickens come running when I call "time to go in"! Hope that helps!

    First Egg Countdown

Yay, I got my 1st egg from my 22 week NHR! I got 2 eggs from my Cornish Rock but then I read that they shouldn't live that long cause of health problems....so I had to do the deed. Anyway I was as happy as a kid on Xmas morning! Then I left it in the nest so my 2 girls could find it! The looks...

    Funny, my rooster doesn't crow

I noticed this morning when I went out to give them treats, he "cracker" was walking around the now empty cage where the other 2 were, and he puffed up and did a funny "dance" if you will, almost like he was glad they were gone. He is now walking around with his head held up, very upright, very...
