Have you asked your local feedstore if they can order it for you? They may not be charged extra shipping if some of their relgular suppliers carry it.
I found mine at a local feedstore. It was $25 for a 50 lb bag. Yes, 50 pounds... and I have 4 hens! I think I have a lifetime supply.
I think I have the happiest chickens in the world, but having read some of your stories I wonder if I'm being irresponsible.
First of all, let me say that I live in the middle of the city in a subdivision with no woods close by. I have never seen any wild animals close to where I live except...
Haven't been to the board in a while but I'll be ordering some magnets. Very talented people here! Had to submit a couple, even though it's too late:
"My chicken pooped on your honor student."
"My chicken bawked at your honor student."
This will be 5' long, 3' wide, and 2' tall... I just wanted to make sure their heads wouldn't scrape the top. But when I looked at how high it would be I realized that there's no way the hens are that tall.
And yes, I'm aware that this isn't huge, by any means, but we have a tiny yard and...
My husband is building the run right now and before he makes anymore cuts, I want to make sure we're building it high enough. Is 2' 1", or 25" tall enough?
Thanks!
Wow, I thought you could give table scraps to your chickens. Almost all of my table scraps have some kind of salt in it. What does salt hurt?
And what does avacado hurt?
Not saying they aren't harmful, but you do start questioning some info when everything you read is contradictory.
Perhaps this is a silly question. I wouldn't think anything of it for adult chickens, but mine are only about 3.5 weeks old. I have them in the temporary coop outside when it's nice and warm and move it around the yard each day. We have a lot of small ant hills. Should I make sure there...
They are 3 1/2 weeks. Gosh, I wanted to hear, "Oh no, that's definitely not a rooster! You're fine." But you think it may actually be.
There really is no way I could keep it if it's a rooster. I'm in the city limits and hens are surprisingly OK here, but no roosters. And the whole...
Hi Chicken Experts!
I am really paranoid since I live in the city with 2 houses to the side and one to the back of us with... oh... 30 feet between us all.
I'm getting quite attached to my chickies, especially the one that I'm starting to think is a rooster. If he is, I have to find another...
I'm not from Utah, but I just wanted to say that your photography is absolutely gorgeous! If I did live there, I'd be bringing my family over for a session.
I just read a webpage from someone selling DE... it was posted by someone here, but I don't remember who.
Anyway, it said that it's safe to use but you don't want to inhale it.
Well, I've been using DE since I got my chicks and it's so fine that there's no way you or the chickens CAN'T inhale...
I have a 5 year old and I freak out about it from time to time. He's not the best about washing his hands every time he touches them, and I'm sure I bug the crap out of him abou it. I have since put a bottle of hand sanitizer at strategic places... one outside and one inside. He is more apt...

IMO, if someone is going to home an animal under their care then they have a responsibility to that animal's health and safety regardless of what the animal is being used for.
When acquiring animals, one should always consider veterinary needs.
I'll be 100% honest and say that I did...
I don't want this to come across the wrong way, but is it really feasible for most people to take a chicken to the vet when they have a health problem?
It's one thing to take it if it's a pet chicken, but don't most people (even people on this board) have chickens for eggs or ...gasp... other...
Good to know...
I found their website and it has a lot of good info there.
Seems like they put certain selections from their magazines on the website, and even archive each issue.
