I use Brinsea incubators and have had excellent hatch rates for the past 10 years with most hatches. I've tried twice with BO's, for some reason I have trouble with them.
I actually purchased from them last year. Their birds are beautiful, and so very sweet. I had a very bad hatch rate, though, 3 out of 12 hatched. 1 is a roo, he is so sweet, almost like a puppy. They're for sure on my list to consider this year. If you decide to buy from them, you will be...
I've been trying to get these in my flock for years, but I've been having the worst luck finding breeders. Now, I see tons of other colors being bred, and they're beautiful. But, I want buff.
Does anyone sell or know of anyone who sells Heritage Buff hatching eggs?
I've almost always had a rooster in my flock and I've always hatched and raised most of them by hand. They've been good protectors of my flocks and respectful of me. I've taught my daughters to move slowly and watchfully near them, (we've had nasty hatchery roos in the past so they know what a...
Hey guys, I have a friend who is new to peeps, she just hatched a few eggs of mine 2 weeks ago. She's wanting some lavender orpingtons, but is having trouble finding them. We are in OC, is there anyone close who has some hatching eggs or day olds?
I don't know much about guineas, but I started with 2 and they didn't make it. Maybe it was too cold for them, they couldn't huddle together for warmth? My friend who has them always has 8-10 of them hanging together.
I've never bought eggs off Ebay because I see so much fraud and deception. I raise Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and have posted a few pics of them online. There's a seller on Ebay who has taken my pics and is passing them off as his own birds. Imagine the disappointment of his buyers when...
I researched hawk and owl kills last night and think it is a hawk, also. The plucking and neck area eating is pretty obvious. Thankfully it seems I've protected the ones who choose to stay in the run, but those rouge rangers who find a soft spot and dig into the sand :(
I live right next...
Thank you for replying. I don't think it's a dog because, even if multiple chickens are out, only one gets attacked at a time. Could be a fox, I had them last spring. But, they would take the whole bird, leaving just some downy feathers, and carry it to their den, not leave it behind. Also...
Fo the past few weeks, I've been losing my seramas one every few days. I've reinforced my run but they dig under the fence and there's nothing I can do about it - too big of an area and the ground is too frozen to dig any wire under the fence. I caught a hawk inside the run last Sunday, he...
A good way to tell if you're buying a purebred or not, the seller should be able to tell you what color the bird is. If it's just sold as an "Ameraucana", it's probably an Easter Egger.
